Following Dignitas’s cold-shoulder and TLR’s recent departure due to clashing with admins, ESL’s small premier division looks likely to get smaller again, losing another top team as I Don’t Know?’s players have decided to quit it because of other league commitments.
After losing Well 1-2 to Power Gaming, idk? only managed to field four players for the second map, Gullywash, en route to a 0-5 smackdown, having already decided to abandon their position in ESL. And in blatant defiance of the ESL admins,
Extremer dared to use the Charging Targe (and failed to get any kills with it). The two players that left the match went to watch football on TV.
Team manager
Slick, however, is reportedly very unhappy with their decision, and has refused to drop them. Will I Don’t Know?’s players get their way and disobey a direct order from their long-serving manager? Will they be able to reach a compromise or is mutiny on the cards? Will Slick kick troublemaker
F2 and take the reigns of the team again?

- # - nice! +0You naughty boy F2
- # - nice! +0The ESL admins are considering a life-time ban for Extremer for using the demoman unlocks.
- # - nice! +0It’s understandable that one has annoyances with ESL, and their strict use of rules + an esl wire that (for many) works less than it doesn’t.
But, this isn’t something new, and it’s a shame it gets nuked mid season due to annoyances easily foreseen when teams decided to sign up to it.
- # - nice! +0I gave up ESL the first time I looked at the website. It’s such a clusterfuck of content. Everything just seems to be randomly placed all over the place.
- # - nice! +0this is a shame for euro tf2 imo :x
- # - nice! +0well, only TF2 has to lose if the teams doesnt support it.
The strict rules are mandatory from ESL system its the same for every tournament on esl, not really related with TF2 admins.
When the people cba to follow the rules or even contact admins for help, you cant really expect any support from esl, and the fact is that EMS is lowering the prize every season.
ETF2L IS NOT the future of tf2, ofc i have the common sense to know that its user friendly, and the rules are made specificly for TF2 which makes it more enjoyable to play, but the future belongs to orgs like ESL and ESH, but people seems to be blind and just give up from ESL or not even signing for ESH.
- # - nice! +0What Haunter said
- # - nice! +0ETF2L might not be a good future for the top10 teams, but for the most part I reckon the community really don’t care if they play in ESL, ESH or ETF2L. I don’t see it as a question of people being blind, more a case of cba.
- # - nice! +0more:
Something isn’t better only cause something it’s bigger. I don’t feel we should put all the blame on the people of the community. The fact that ETF2L exist is only proof that the bigger names has ways to go in building a good solution for their customers, which are the gamers.
- # - nice! +0There is no way ESL is the future of TF2 either.
- # - nice! +0Blame or not, let’s look at how we can improve on the situation. One immediate source of improvement is that of coverage. I think it’s very important that we get more stv to ESL matches, as well as a better flow of information to when matches are being played.
Until we get a public “edit” function for posts (or match ticker) on this site, it would be highly appreciated if people would let us know of matches being played for ESL. Do it either in comments on posts for upcoming matches, or contact one of the moderators. We’re happy to put it in.
And, as far as matches actually being played, I think it’s a lot better for some matches to be played at 20cet, then not at all!
- # - nice! +0I will put it in other way and im speaking as a player not as admin which could make my opinion biased:
most of the people keeps saying that TF2 doesnt have the reputation it should, or sponsors, or lans, etc… ETF2L will always be active for the simple reason that it was the first user friendly league, but as in top-end competitions has nothing to offer, and the entire community starts there, if TF2 had strong sponsors, the main gaming org’s would bet on it, and I am sure that the ammount of competitive players would be 3x more
- # - nice! +0@torden the coverage is one of the things we wanted to implement, but me and anakin alone couldnt do the job alone, but hopefully we have more people now to start doing it
- # - nice! +0Maybe you should look at why people are leaving the league or not even signing up instead of just blaming people.
- # - nice! +0they are leaving bcs of aequitas, site and no time to play in many leagues.
And like i said the rules are made for every competition, the use of anti-cheat is mandatory in top end CSS games, same for all the amateur leagues, cant change that.
The site is made for every game, cant change that, even tho there’s a beta version more user friendly.
Can understand the last reason, but its a matter of players options
- # - nice! +0from a spectator point of view i guess a match ticker with STVs would be both helpful and beneficial to ESL itself, maybe something for the future
- # - nice! +0The whole “can’t change that” is utter bullshit and no excuse. Be it due to incompetence, lack of interest or lack of funding/time. No matter which, it’s not something that can’t be fixed. And until things is fixed, people are not going to pick the lesser one as long as there is an option.
- # - nice! +0we playing tonight vs H! @ 21.15 cet

thx chee. will add asap
- # - nice! +0Pff, Night started the unlock madness!
- # - nice! +0Btw, I forced uber so it’s ok.
- # - nice! +0@weqo
trust me its not possible to change, we tried to do that I guess m0re+mvp were still on the admin team (and it was one of the reasons for them to leave), one of the main admins of esl just told us that ESL rules are not changeable.
Do you really think i am in favour of forbid mercs when I always allow teams to use mercs against my team? or force people to use aequitas when they have major problems? or check every match to make sure ppl respected the rules and give penalty points? etc etc
- # - nice! +0@Haunter
I apologize if you took it as critisism against you. Not at all.
I’m not against what you guys are doing for the community, on the contrary, keep it up!
It’s the company ESL that need to sort their act, not their helper (free working force) admins.
- # - nice! +0Hopefully EnemyDown will return to save the day :D
- # - nice! +0At the end of the day, are ESL going to change their entire web-site because an insignificant game (TF2) demands it? Not likely. If the CS players were unhappy and boycott the league because of the web-site format, then that would be a different story.
- # - nice! +0lol at this :)
idk? gangbanged me with all votes to remove themselves from ESL :( I have been deceived :(
Anyhows yea i do think that ESL still is an important mention in esport gaming and that TF2 should continue to support it best they can, but tbh we just had too many things to focus on. We took ESL as a pcw, but then eventually all the hassle just for a “pcw” was too much.
- # - nice! +0Appreciate the efforts of the ESL admins. We tried.
