Dr. Shdwpuppet – Over the years, a rivalry of almost unreal proportions has developed between our two TF2 scenes. The question is debated every time someone breaks ranks and crosses over to play for the opposing side. Countless times, I have been asked and assaulted by europeans of every nationality. Every time, the opinion is the same. The best team in Europe would totally, completely, humiliatingly, decimate the hopes, dreams, first born children and secret lovers of the American elite.
Several times over the ages, this question has been tackled head on with show matches, usually just for fun, played out on both sides of the sea. The results have been consistent: homefield ping advantage is just too great. It is with this in mind that I, with extelevision and the support of several international TF2 organisations, have a proposal for you, the European scene. Help us bring 2 teams to i46, the biggest TF2 lan ever, and we shall see, once and for all, who will reign supreme. No more whining about ping, no more confusion about unlocks. We will come to you, play on your soil, on your rules. You just have to help us pay for it.
This begs the question of who we should send. On the one hand,
Mihaly’s Flow are the undisputed champions of this season, only dropping one game in 16 in what is one of the most competitive seasons to date. We have our LAN coming up, surely the best team in America could be sent? No, for your entertainment, we have settled on a tournament style selection process. On the weekend of July 7th, we will gather the 4 best teams as they will be attending i46 and set them loose against each other. The prize? 12 tickets to fly their way to England and represent their nation on the fields of battle.
Until then, we ask that everyone who can, donate. No matter if you can spare thousands or dozens, every donation is important and every dollar, pound, euro or rare precious gem will help us get there. We have two milestones: the 10,000$ milestone will allow us to send one team, the winner of our competition. Another 10,000$ will get us to where we need to be to send two teams. And of course, the staff of eXtv will be there, providing coverage and taking pictures, memorializing the event forever. (don’t worry VanillaTV, its your event to cast, we just want to show up and look prettier than you).
You will find our donation site, and a nice counter to see how far along we are HERE.
Thanks everyone, truly and really. This may be our last chance to see an American team (or TWO!!!) make this journey and we could not have picked a better time. i46 promises to be an amazing event, one that will live in the memory of the TF2 community for years to come. We thank everyone for their support, and be on the lookout for events, fundraisers, team interviews, media and showmatches in the next two months as we prepare for the event of a lifetime.
Regards,
Alex “drshdwpuppet” Williams

TweetI think most people think american teams are better. Just sayin’.
yeah, probably, but this makes for a better story and hype engine :D
- # - nice! +3This is just epic on another level! Cant wait for the summer :D
- # - nice! +4Needs a documentary.
- # - nice! +4well, just sayin… if we meet our donation requirements there is a little bit in there to buy a DSLR and some gear to do that with :D That is one of the reasons I am going actually, on site video stuffs :P
- # - nice! +3Just to clarify, eXtv is looking into purchasing a new camera on our own dime. We should be able to be appropriately geared up. We will be supporting the eXisting LAN coverage plans (Kritzkazt + VanillaTF2), with our focus primarily on a documentary of the event. And of course I’ll cast anything I’m asked to cast :D
- # - nice! +4that was an eXcellent and eXciting comment eXtine, have you considered adding any eXtra eXtrapolation into this already eXtremely interesting article?
WOOO!
- # - nice! +6I honestly don’t understand how valve refuse to support the biggest tf2 event of all time even a little bit. It wouldn’t need to be team support directly, just add a few grand to the prize pool for instance.
Anyway, it’s great to finally hear news of this instead of just empty promises. Will donate some as soon as I move some cash to my paypal account.
I dont think it is a matter of refusing to help, its more that, if they help us, they will need to help in other places too. Valve has a history of wanting to run their own events more than help out other events, just safer and a better assurance of ROI. I actually can’t blame them.
Now if we dont get front page on the tf2 blog on the other hand…. I will go to Robin Walker and let him know what I think :P
- # - nice! +5they have “helped” other places though, no?
look at the kritzkast hat, those guys made a massive deal about that and it got them a bunch of exposure
- # - nice! +2I don’t know shit about trading, but if somebody would check my backpack for hats / earbuds / anything valuable I would happily donate this to somebody who could convert this to realz moneyz.

Sort by most valuable, should give you some idea. Basically the earbuds are the main thing.
- # - nice! +00,01 €? 1 €? 10 €? What about metal?
- # - nice! +0i think buds are about 30 bucks? 25-30
- # - nice! +2Hey extine, a little suggestion
Can we have some nominated people with backpack expanders to hold item donations for people who dont want to donate money, but could instead donate metal or hats/buds. Then we have a massive extv auction, spread throughout the steam forums and reddit, all of the proceeds going towards the fund
I will put myself forward as an designated item holder (I do have a max head, not sure if want to sell) and then ill generate some cheap prices for all the stuff and make some alt accounts which people can add and trade stuff with after ive seen they’ve donated
I think asking for money is a hard ask sometimes but TF2 items? im sure everyone in etf2l will give metal or more which can be sold as pure metal; if you’re not sure about how this could be done then give me an add and we can talk about it np, I think we’d make so much money from cheap metal sales and up it’d be unreal

I’ll chip in my earbuds and metal thingies! Go!

- # - nice! +3This is going to be awesome!!
Infused (basically UK…) vs. USA final perhaps? :D
- # - nice! +2Only if the yanks don’t get destroyed by LTG on the way there.
- # - nice! +6Just another LAN scalp to the collection.
I’ll put it next to Saemzi and Pledge bro.
- # - nice! +1fuck infused

- # - nice! +1Think it’ll more likely be epsilon.
I love how the Epsilon team is turning back into the idk? team of old :D

- # - nice! +3cookye > shintaz
sorry bro :<
@Tapley – Get MPUK to drop Valve another line…don’t ask, don’t get!
At least with have some sort of evidence that this will be a big event even at this point. 360+ signups for TF2 plus 2 months still to go.
Even a blog post would be amazing! promoting the charity drive and the event.
- # - nice! +1This graphic is fugly. I hope we can get some slick media for this fundraising campaign!
