ETF2L’s Highlander Nations Cup is well under way now, with the group stages being played out. One of the teams that has been looking in top form from the first few games is undoubtedly
Sweden, although they were bound to perform well with veterans such as
TheSucker,
ALX,
jukebox and
Zebbosai in their ranks.
Tonight’s action sees the team match up against
Luxembourg across a 2 map game, consisting of cp_gravelpit and ctf_converge_b3.
We’re also reliably informed that Sweden will be fielding a celebrity player tonight:
Notch, the creator of Minecraft – while VanillaTV will be providing our very own celebrity couple of
Comedian and
Pledge to talk you through the game.
In addition to the excitement of Notch playing, VanillaTV will be giving you an opportunity to win 1 of 2 CS:GO keys, so ensure you tune into the stream from 20:30 CEST.

Also on tonight on Relay 3 — relay.vanillatv.org:27102 — is the match between

Israel. Considered to be the decider for their group. This match is due to start a half hour earlier than the Sweden/Luxembourg game at 20:00CEST. We have managed to get a cast ready for this game with our resident highlander guru

TweetI’m coming for you tarukus!!!
- # - nice! +3Portugal ! <3
- # - nice! +2Should’ve played this match on pl_minepit instead – gamebanana.com/maps/143452
:)
- # - nice! +1why cast swe vs luxemburg and not israel vs portugal???
it’s like casting epsilon vs a div3 team rather than casting a fine topdiv1 match :D
“cuz notch”
- # - nice! +6is there no way to have a secondary cast with portugal vs isreal? That’s probably the most equal match up in the group stages..
Might aswell just stream Notch play on a public server while being healed, that would have the same effect as this game (no offense to team Luxembourg of course)
- # - nice! +1yeah, Sweden vs Luxembourg definitely wasn’t on my ‘games to watch’ list. :(
- # - nice! +3oh come on, you have had the opportunity to see a rare species in the gaming scene :D
- # - nice! +5The secondary cast is a good idea and something we’re looking in to if people are available for it. I think what you’ve got to understand is that casting a game with Notch is a really good way to show competitive TF2 to people who’ve never really been exposed to it before. It’d be stupid NOT to cast a game with Notch in it.
- # - nice! +4Of course, I am not doubting that. I understand that Notch’s presence is probably gonna cause an explosion in terms of stream viewers.
It’s just unlucky timing to have probably the best group stage game on at the same time.
- # - nice! +1casting swe vs luxembourg is like video tape a five years old getting beat up by his older brother :X
- # - nice! +6At least israel vs portugal has a relay. :|
- # - nice! +0Because of the amount of games on tonight it’s been a first come first serve basis. We aren’t going around asking every team if they’re playing tonight so if you do have a game that you feel warrents an STV relay then you should get in contact with an operator in #VanillaTV. :)
We do have some relays spare but, again, these are limited and we don’t know which games will be on tonight. If it is, then don’t hesitate to PM an op in #VanillaTV and we’ll try and get you sorted out.
- # - nice! +0Please note that all VTV relays are in use for tonight now.
Relay 1: Sweden vs Luxembourg (With possibility of Sweden vs Scotland after)
Relay 2: Finland vs Norway
Relay 3: Israel vs Portugal
As Leftism said, it’s normally on a first come first served basis as to whether you can use a VTV relay.
- # - nice! +2Do know that Arie (FB) still has kept his relay bot up and running; if youre running out of relays we can still help out a little.
There’s about 8 more I can launch from the FB server. I think a few VTV staffers have the info to the interface.
- # - nice! +5You sir are truely a god amongst men.
- # - nice! +3We have used the FB relays recently when we have ran short of relays, guys. :)
Echoing Hildreth’s words, we’re still really appreciative of that. :D
Also, teams really need to start contacting us if they want their games to have a relay attached to them…
- # - nice! +0p.s: who is notch?
- # - nice! +6According to Kotaku, the 17th most powerful person in video games kotaku.com/5875979/-17-markus-...
- # - nice! +6Please someone tweet or warn notch about the VTV casting so he can spread the word, I’m sure he would retweet or tweet to his followers (which he has a lot) so they can watch his game and we can dream of thousands of viewers for this one match and possibly some new comp players
- # - nice! +6It seems it paid of, Notch tweeted the match cast and “we” got over 700 viewers! :DDD
- # - nice! +1Love to see Notch playing!
I had the pleasure of playing a showmatch with him some time ago (actually, ages ago, mr Lucky Luke), and was surprised to see he’s quite a capable TF2 player.
- # - nice! +3It’s not Luke’s fault this is taking so long! :D
- # - nice! +1My bad!
- # - nice! +1what class will notch play?
- # - nice! +0Soldier.
- # - nice! +1why isnt portugal playing
- # - nice! +0It is but stream links are wrong it seems
- # - nice! +0Yeah, accept our official apology for that – the stream link was wrong, and it got all messed up in the backend, despite my best efforts, I couldn’t fix it in time.
I’ll ensure that it gets fixed tomorrow morning so that when we next dual cast (hopefully this week) the links will be right.
- # - nice! +5Great casts!
- # - nice! +7Thanks for your great work with the coverage.
