The heavy is happy to finally get his big manly hands onto the ESL medals!
As many of you have already noticed, the ESL medals have been added to the game! Big thanks to
Ruskeydoo for the design work! I am in charge of the distribution,
DeNeusbeer is taking over the technical side of the distribution process. If you have any questions regarding the medals and could not find the answer in this FAQ or you did not receive a medal although you think you are eligible to get one do not hesitate to contact me either on IRC (CanFo / CanFoFF @ Quakenet) or via eMail ([email protected]). Because I am rather busy with exams for the next two weeks eMails are the safer way to get in touch with me.
I will try to answer some questions that might arise in advance. You can, of course, also leave more questions in the comments and I will do my best to answer them all.
- Q: Where can I find the rankings of each season?
- A: Season VI rankings and Season VII rankings
- Q: Who is eligible for which medal?
- A: Everybody who played at least one match for a team that finished the season will receive at least a participation medal of the highest division he or she played in (e.g. “ESL Season VI Division 5 Participant”). The top three teams of each subdivision were invited to the playoffs. If your team took the third place in the playoffs and you played in any of the team’s matches (not necessarily the playoffs) you are eligible for a bronze medal. For the silver medal your team had to reach the final and lose, to get a golden medal you had to win your division’s playoff final. Sitting on the roster of a team that participated was not enough to receive a medal. Also, your team had to finish the season. Dropped teams’ players are not eligible for a participation medal (unless they played for another team that finished the season, of course).
- Q: I played for two or more teams during one season. Which medal will I receive?
- A: You will receive the more precious medal i.e. the medal of the team that ended up higher or played in the higher division.
- Q: My team was in the top 3 of its subdivision at the end of the season. Why did I still receive a participation medal?
- A: Please check if your team was also in the top 3 in the playoffs. You can reach the playoff tournament tree from your team’s ESL profile page. Scroll down to “Last matches” and click on any match your team played in the “Team Fortress 2 6on6 League Season VII Division X Playoffs”. On the match page click “Tournament Tree”.
- Q: Why is there no medal for the third place in Divions 2, Season VII?
- A: The match for third place was never played so there is no third placed team.
- Q: Why is there no medal for the first, second or third on Division 3, Season VII?
- A: The final and the match for third place was never played so there is no first, second or third placed team.
- Q: Why is there no medal for the participants of Division 1, Season VII?
- A: That division had only three teams finishing the season who all received gold, silver or bronze medals.
- Q: Can we play our playoffs now to decide who gets first, second or third place medals?
- A: No. The competions were over a year ago and everybody had more than enough time back then. Also, the section was closed down and the medals have been created already
- Q: I did not receive my medal but I am sure I played in one of the two seasons. What should I do?
- A: Please first check if you are eligible for a medal (see above). If you are, please contact me either on IRC (CanFo / CanFoFF on Quakenet) or via eMail ([email protected]) after you gathered the following information:
- - Your ESL profile
- - Your team’s ESL profile
- - Your Steam ID
- - The link to at least one match in Season VI or VII that you played in
- - Proof that you played in that match (e.g. a status screenshot or ESL Wire logs)
- Without these information I can not help you.
- Q: The ESL also promised hardware and cash for Season VII. What about the other prizes?
- A: It is looking rather bad. I was trying to sort everything out during my short stay in the ESL admin staff from December 2011 until the section was closed at the beginning of May 2012 but received no answer from the hardware sponsor Ultimat. I also gathered all needed bank- or Paypal data from the two teams that are still to receive their prize money and forwarded everything to the cash sponsor. He confirmed repeatedly that he intends to pay out but after a while I lost motivation to remind him. He recently confirmed again that he still intends to pay out. Your best shot is probably to contact him on your own. I am no ESL “official” anymore so I do not feel I have the authority and the possibility to claim these prizes for the teams so if you are still interested in getting your prizes I suggest you contact the former Master Leage Admin nohope92 about the hardware. You can ask me for their contact information.

- # - nice! +3How do they make it hard? Because they base things on play-offs?
