After a long Friday, full of technical issues, the group stages got under away with 15 of the 16 seeds making it through to the knockout stages of the tournament.
The top 8 seeds all managed to pass through their group games with little effort, with none of them losing a map. Both NA teams,
Classic Mixup and
Leviathan Gaming, made it through without dropping any rounds in their groups, showing once again why they are here to win it all. For Mixup, an impressive win against mix team
Classic Mix Down (consisting of former prem players and Div1 players) stamped their mark on this tournament.

For the EU sides, despite issues earlier in the day with arrival,
Epsilon came, saw and conquered the group stages, dropping just one point throughout the groups and booking their place into the knockouts as the #1 seed.
TCM Gaming and
Infused also managed to go through with ease.
There were, however, some shocks in the day. In the first round, casted by VanillaTV,
Nitrose were given a run for their money and were almost on the verge of being shocked by
Kaleidoscope – however, they just managed to scrape through with a 5-2 win. The score doesn’t show that the game was never plain sailing and at one stage Nitrose were 2-1 down with around 10 Mins left to play. As I stated earlier, one seed did not make it past the group stage. #14 seed
21 Lans were beaten by
9 Men in the second match of the group stages 4-2 on Granary, a close game which also decided the fate of both teams. Both teams managed to get through the rest of their games and thus the writing was on the wall for 21 as they were knocked out of the groups, sending 9 Men through as the only non-seed in the knockouts.
With the double elimination knockouts starting later today around midday, the following teams will be fighting their way to the finals (in rank of their seeds)
Epsilon
Classic Mixup
Infused
Leviathan Gaming
TCM Gaming
Punchline
Quarantine
NITROSE
Decerto
Classic Mix Down
Elemental Violence
5 Wannabes, 1 Superstar
Team Cnfs
PyRo|GEN
Kaleidoscope
9 Men

TweetPlease give props to seanbud, djc and sigma for saving the atrocious coverage of Friday’s games. Hope VTV can get things sorted out for today :X
Slightly disappointed at this comment, let me put some stuff into real world terms.
The majority of group games start at the same time, these are scheduled to start on the hour. Whether these actually start on the hour is a question that only the players can answer.
We choose games to cast on an ‘appeal’ basis, so whatever will be the best games we try to pick. As you can imagine, with the all the games starting at the same time (at least to us) we were only able to do 5 games at most.
If games start later, we need the HELP OF TEAMS to tell us they are starting late instead of letting us round around after them trying to understand what is live and what isn’t…of course that’s in the dark with only a general idea of where people are sitting. This also applys to PCW’s which we have NO IDEA are going on.
The fact is we did 4 due to some technical issues and some games were rather short. We could not then jump into another game which was also about to finish.
I appreciate constructive feedback but I won’t let people try and put the best efforts of people down when most of the factors are beyond are control.
Nether the less, Saturday isn’t a different day and we hope we enjoy the coverage today.
Didn’t mean to belittle your efforts or defame your intentions. Fact is that this is TF2′s biggest moment for a while and you got front page on Twitch, numbers were huge and most people were disappointed. Obviously many factors were involved and issues were out of your control. I merely wanted to point out that the cast on seanbud’s stream worked and was good and entertaining. I wanted to see your coverage pan out well and now hope it improves and nothing goes wrong. No disrespect. GL today & tomorrow
- # - nice! +3I think the biggest complaint is that while the Americans just casted for hours basically without interruption, jumping into matches when they were available,
the VTV stream had nothing but random people eating in front of a camera for 50 minutes, then a 10 minute match in ear destroying sound quality and then back to people eating again.
I don’t think that is anyone’s idea of how a 6+ hour long cast should go.
Well no offence taken, I was just pointing out the facts
Unfortunately, this is the way it goes. By 1am most of us where pretty done and ready for bed.
I think your find the Americans streaming was done a little bit more respectable time being in the states and the majority of them actually friends with them. E.g. Able to ask what time games are or follow of friends – which isn’t possible for us. They did a fine job and I am sure they will be well aware of the some issues you can have at lan. We have tried to encourage the same support of us and we have found players coming over to tell us – so thank you
As for VTV today – we have a good group of casters and already done a good mix of games. We are looking to go all the way through to the end tonight.
Keep watching as things are already better thanks to the hard work of our technical guys.
Cheers
- # - nice! +3Yes, coverage has been fantastic today, looking good!
- # - nice! +2The Andy Bones Experience / Kaleidoscope should be on that list aswell.
- # - nice! +2Apologies, I shall fix!
- # - nice! +0“The top 8 seeds all managed to pass through their group games with little effort”
- # - nice! +0and then…
“Nitrose were given a run for their money and were almost on the verge of being shocked by The Bones Experience”
Hmm it is a bit confusing yes. In the end, Nitrose didn’t lose a map to any team, and even the match they struggled on, they managed to win 5-2.
- # - nice! +2CLIVE
- # - nice! +3Swifty lost the league Q.Q
- # - nice! +1“Epsilon came, saw and conquered the group stages” -Dropping 2 rounds to Did I Stutter, a division 2 team.. with DIS having the momentum stolen from them by a map change, then going on to lose the game after the interuption
And yet NITROSE drop 2 rounds to The Bones Experience and it’s a run for our money, can’t say I agree too much, but they did play very well regardless
