Admirable — This just in… hell has frozen over… and in seemingly unrelated circumstances the Premier Division will be playing their fixtures… on time?  It seems the ETF2L Admin team’s hard line on professionalism is already paying dividends as we have not one, but two top tier games scheduled for blast-off tonight.

Both fixtures are tantalising prospects featuring evenly matched teams going head to head on the first steps of their season-long campaigns to lay claim to a share of the €2,500 prize pool and assortment of Tt eSports swag.

Top billing on our double header is a game that may well turn out to be a preview of the Grand Final that will close the season out in less than 3 months’ time, with current favourites Epsilon eSports up against their closest rivals BFF.

Obviously these are both entirely new rosters; amalgams congealed in the European competitive petri dish, evolving in the post-i46 scramble for superiority.  Thus we find that there is a lack of empirical data from officials, but in PCWs it seems that Epsilon are coming out ahead more often than not.  However, it is worth noting that the teams have not been practising against each other on Badlands or Gullywash, as both are reluctant to give away any trade secrets beforehand.

On paper I feel like the extreme ability of the demomen and scouts will more or less cancel each other out.  Epsilon may feel they have an edge in the soldier and medic departments, with BFF’s healing Houdini Mirelin returning from a long period away from the Premiership and many pundits suggesting that Darn’s best days are behind him (not to mention that he is currently suffer from wisdom tooth pain).

It might be too big an ask for Soldier of the Season, Zebbosai, to carry his Finnish cohort over the line; especially when you consider that GeaR and  Mike are both recent recipients of said award.  I’ve heard on the grapevine that Zebbo will be playing from a friend’s house on “shit” internet, and I have to wonder why BFF have not opted to wildcard or postpone the fixture…

Do BFF think defeat is a foregone conclusion or are they just supremely confident? You can catch every airshot, surf and backcap almost live on STV and VanillaTV with  Greg, Admirable and Comedian.

BFF’s high-flying demoman, kaidus, offered up a tongue-in-cheek pre-match statement:

“Epsilon are a strong up and coming team. Hopefully they can give us a good fight so it’s not boring for the fans. We definitly won’t try to shut down numlocked cause he’s just a stuck up faggot.”

His fellow pipe monster and compatriot,  numlocked, declined to comment.

Our second match of the evening, cruelly scheduled at the same time, will see qualification success story, CHINESE MAFIA, testing their mettle against, Nitrose; a team tipped by many as a dark horse for Season 13.  The battle for third and fourth place is set to be the true contest of this season’s Premiership, with little to separate the teams fighting it out in the long shadows cast by Epsilon eSports and BFF.

One might assume that considering this is their first “real” Premiership fixture, CHINESE MAFIA would be at a disadvantage, but Nitrose are equally fresh-faced when it comes to matters Premier. With the mercurial Quad in the equation, Nitrose might have little say in the outcome, but one would feel that their time together this summer should be enough to give them an edge tonight.

P.S. If you are unfortunate enough to be playing in either of these fixtures don’t forget to use your official nicknames and upload STV demos or else  CanFo will cut your balls off and  emb will burn them in motor oil.
