So, we’re changing our format and style a bit for eXtravision. Each episode we’ll have 3 videos for you: TF2 competitive news (Saturdays), TF2 community news (Sundays) and eXtra-time with eXtine (Mondays) which can vary from topic each week. I don’t think I should post each video here on VanillaTF2, so I want you to let me know how / if you want to see it here! Leave that in the comments below, as well as feedback for the show.
TF2 Community news (open this post for Competitive news and eXtra-time w/ eXtine):

TweetMaybe some bar on the right or left side saying that theres new episode? I’m subscribed but some visual notifications are still needed imo.
- # - nice! +0The borderlands episode needs a proper spoiler warning! :D
- # - nice! +1I really like the new format. I usually do not care that much about the community news and it was always a bit annoying to have to watch them anyway (or to skip them).
I actually think this is a step in the wrong direction. Breaking up the two segments means that many casual players will skip over the more competitive episode.
I agree with what M24 said, plus when everything is put together – the show gets more airtime which looks more serious than a bunch of 3-min shorties.
Alternative option (to splitting the show into 3 smaller ones) would be to keep making it as a single episode, but have 3 parts inside the video, which would be visually separated (by a big picture with the next part name or something) with links to each part’s starting point in the comments.
This way people who are only specifically interested in one or 2 parts will be able to only watch these parts easily enough, but if they are even slightly curious – they will be able to just keep watching and see it all. Which eventually will lead to more “casual players watching comp news” than current approach :P
- # - nice! +3Hmmm.. We did this because a lot of people, competitive or casuals were just skipping over the parts that they don’t care about (aka competitive news for casuals). We can still include announcements for for eXample big highlander tournaments or so. But stuff like team movements will be in competitive news. You can’t force casual players to watch competitive news, if they’re interested in it they’ll look, but otherwise they just won’t watch it.
At least that is my impression of it.
- # - nice! +0Anyone subscribed or frequently watching eXtravision, will get notifications (either in the subscription box or via annotations on community news) leading towards competitive news.
It’s difficult cos I know a lot of “casuals” or pub players that care about Highlander but don’t give a shit about 6v6 and a lot of 6v6 people don’t care for Highlander so if you don’t seperate 9v9 and 6v6 then you could be missing some of your target audience, personally I thought it worked well the way it was. Then again I did skip over a bit of stuff I didn’t care about like the Item of the week.
- # - nice! +13 x the Adsense money. From a business perspective, it adds more videos to their youtube channel, more video views, more uploaded videos (a larger presence on Youtube making them more visible).
It does allow people to ignore content that doesn’t interest them, but then, they can do the same on a single video just by skipping ahead.
- # - nice! +4I’d like to see it remain, although I rarely have anything to say when it comes to the NA scene I do still enjoy watching it and probably wouldn’t remember to venture out to watch it otherwise.
- # - nice! +0Keep the comp news coming on vtv. I don’t mind seeing the other stuff anyway and will watch it from time to time.
