The Mad Catz sponsored Team Fortress Challenge cup, hosted by ESH comes to a close tonight, with 2 teams from the original 12 entries left standing. Tonight’s final is almost an exact repeat of ETF2L’s Season 13 Grand Final with
Epsilon eSports fighting against
Crack Clan once again, with the only change being that instead of Snakewater, the first map this time around is Gullywash.
Both teams had a bye into round 2 of this Cup, and had a simple road to the finals, with Epsilon beating both
Lutunen and
qn. 2-0, while Crack Clan easily dispatched
Impera and
bff, again, both 2-0.
In their last meeting, the before-mentioned ETF2L final, Crack Clan began strongly on Snakewater and looked like they were prepared to win, but Epsilon proved too strong, eventually winning the map 5-2, while the second map, Granary, was a more one sided affair, with
stefan and
wltrs cleaning up as Epsilon swarmed to a 6-1 victory.

Admirable couldn’t be reached for a comment at the time of going to press, but I like to think he would say something along the lines of (not that I’m a bitter, cynical hack):
“Potatoes will factor into this game, and we’ll win easily. With the prize money, I plan to buy Trell the TT eSports Bag that I so callously denied him last time due to my ineptitude.”
I did manage to press gang
Byte into answering some questions in anticipation of the game though!
Me: Who do you think is going to win tonight and why?
Byte: Epsilon, i think with the sheer class they have, they’d have to be severely out of form for cc// to clutch a win, and as far as I’ve seen they’re still playing and practicing.
Me: Will the fact that first map is Gullywash instead of Snakewater make a difference in favour of Crack Clan?
Byte: May cause a slight upset at the start for Epsilon as they start really slow normally then hit 9th gear in a transition period of 2 minutes lol, so I don’t think the fact that it’s gully instead of snake will favour cc// (infact probably worse).
Me: Is Admirable the best medic in europe?
Byte: Admirable has improved to no ends but I can’t hand on heart say he is the best medic in Europe currently.
Me: Who do you think is going to be the ‘clutch’ player for both teams?
Byte: Between four players, Mike, Wltrs, Stefan and Tviq.
Cheers, Byte(.) for answering those questions. The winning team tonight takes home €300 and 6x RAT 5 Gaming Mice, courtesy of Mad Catz. Tune in from 21:15 to catch the action, with
Comedian on the stream, and
Pledge and
Skully providing the casting!

Tweet‘cc easily dispatched bff’ – Hmm, I thought their SF was easily one of the most exciting matches in recent tf2 history. I must have watched a differrent game!
OT: It’s hard to imagine Epsilon losing, but I’ll be cheering for everyone’s favourite fifa aficionado!
You probably watched the game rather than just quickly scrolling through the results.
“Strolled through” would be my words.

- # - nice! +4PS: without bs restrictions and rules you are coming up with?

- # - nice! +2I asked a simple question, requires a simple answer from Ipz.
Anyone can cast assuming they can actually cast and are good enough to accommodate the viewers.
I see no high horse and neither do I see any restrictions as we have all flavours of personality in VTV.
So back to my original question, Ipz when can you cast =)?
Cheers

- # - nice! +2I´m on that trial casters list for a while now, gimme a chance coach!
- # - nice! +1Last night I randomly just clicked through the vOD´s of the casts to see who was casting and what the quality was.
I am really open minded when it comes to casters and I enjoyed some of the new casters that were trying it this season just as Reveral and Admirable.
Everytime i randomly clicked into these VOD´s what I heard was neither making sense nor was it entertaining. I know that you dont think really highly of me
as a person/player w/e and thats okay for me and I cant really care less but with your idea to expand to a bigger audience by covering other games as CS:GO or LoL
in the future to benefit TF2 ,which I think is a great idea, wouldnt you want to make sure that your casters are either competent enough to cast the games or have enough
carisma to not be as competent as you may wish. A good example for these 2nd sort of casters for me was always Salamancer. When you watched his casts or streams hes not constantly
trying to preach strategy just for the sake of it and he openly admits that sometimes he loses track of whats going on or hes suprised by a certain move that was made in the game.
Which in the end makes him way more carismatic that two downies that try to explain everything that is going on in everything that is happening by basicly just working with the killfeed.
If these explanations would be right there wouldnt be any problem with that cause it could be their style of casting, fair enough. But since almost 80% of what they say is utterly retarded and
wrong I cant agree with letting people like this casting really high level games. Fair enough with their semi- getting hyped and screaming they reach out to the plebs but if thats your goal
quantity over quality you should reconsider your future business plans. I´m on that caster triallist for a while now without getting a chance to cast so dont give me that bs of WHERE IS YOUR CAST? if you dont want it.
sry for maybe really bad english here and there and shoutouts to ACB tuesday crew and Ads& DJC
Should of stuck with your first reply was simpler =)
So when can you next cast? It’s an actual question. Is no bs straight up when (as in what date) can you (as in you Ipz thats right you) cast (cast as in commentate and speak random words)?
Let me know on irc that’d be fab =)
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +2I will talk to you in a bit and will happely help out were i can :)
- # - nice! +3I’ve wanted to trial cast back in the day and nothing happened with that. I don’t know what Ipz means about “rules/restrictions”, but I can say I wanted to try out and never got to. I don’t know if you choose to let only players who have a record in high divs, people you know or are friendly with to cast, or maybe it was something personal with me. Whenever people complain about a cast, your immediate response is “then help out, if people would volunteer this wouldn’t happen”. If bottom line – I wanted to try to cast and didn’t get 1 shot, then what is the point of saying that?
Also I would still like to try and cast as I started playing TF2 again.
- # - nice! +4It annoys me to read a story like Trath’s, when we all experienced a quite disappointing season from the VanillaTV side (especially post-i46 hype, and with a very alive prem division this season) in terms of broadcast consistency; there were simply way too little casts.
Normally I would respond with a “well, I’m not stepping up to the plate myself, so why complain about too little casts if there’s simply nobody to cast?” … Yet it seems that there are people who are trying to volunteer but not getting a chance. Whatever happened to VTV open mic anyway?
- # - nice! +4He’s not wrong!
Opinions of all are always taken in and we certainly know ur opinion Kaidus :p from like agggges ago :D
Cheers

- # - nice! +1I might actually watch VODs if ipz was casting
ipz thank you for taking the time to write this post.
(ps. turn off word-wrap in notepad before you copy and paste :P)
- # - nice! +5…and turn on spell check you German fuck!
- # - nice! +4BOOM.
notepad doesn’t have spell check, clearly written by some slovenly microsoft intern
- # - nice! +0FU :D
- # - nice! +0Awesome rant ipz. As we seem to be in an “airing the dirty laundry” kind of mood I admit I have the VTV stream muted more often than not lately and find another stream to watch the game. I appreciate the enthusiasm some show, but an incoherent stream of barely formed thoughts isn’t entertaining to listen to. Calm down, speak clearly, don’t pontificate on the finer points of strategy if you don’t know what the fuck is going on.
lol, if you don’t want to obey by the rules the VanillaTV admins set out, then don’t cast through VanillaTV. Not difficult.
- # - nice! +4“Did he use that uber?” “Admirable forced it”
wp Admirable, I don’t have a clue how you did that from middle.
- # - nice! +4admirable is a true force. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zXDo4...
