While most of you are finding it difficult to get out of the ‘christmas period’ here at VanillaTV it’s back to reality. After a long well deserved break, by all the staff we’re looking forward to the upcoming ETF2L Season 14. Should be a very exciting time for EU TF2, mainly with the injection of five new unlocks brought into the game. The variation and meta being changed because of this will lead to far more interesting plays for our casters to commentate on.
With this to look forward too, we still have the ETF2L 6th cup best of 3 rounds to look forward too! With six premiership teams in the mix, them being:
With all the practice certain premiership teams have been putting in, and the inclusion of unlocks, which team will adapt the most? Which players will now actually manage to be a valid asset with the unlocks in place? Find out with VanillaTV, where we will be casting the well ranked game between

Team Doctrinal, have had a couple of new players added to their roster: The ever so famous
CUBE for making his PREM (you know you want to click on it to enjoy the well synced music ;) despite listening to it over 10 times), and also
Stark’s partner in crime from the England’s National TF2 team,
Greg.
Question is, will these two fine and highly talented individuals manage to spark what they showed the TF2 world in the nations cup, or will it be a flop. On a side note,
Hys has been seen merc’ing for them, and rumours have it that he may join, doctrinal really don’t have a choice though unfortunately with what’s on the TF2 demoman meat market, Hys is definitely the best available at the moment.
on the other hand…
Quarantine have been under the radar so to speak with one of the few premiership teams yet to really rev up the ‘practice’ engine. I wonder if they have been practicing behind the scenes, or are they that confident in their ability to smash Team Doctrinal. Or they could be using this cup as a buffer to warm up for season 14, who knows but I can tell that a certain good looking smoothy (with shades on)
Dr Leon, is now in their team. Looking to revitalize his love for TF2 and playing with those new unlocks.

Tweet“long well deserved break” I’m sure some will argue that lol
they needed a long break from the two highlander games they casted
Since i-series 46 :/ give us a break :| we all burnt out after that and qq’ed but still continued…
nice to know seb thanks :)
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +2I thought you already had your break, now you want another one? Where does it end…
- # - nice! +3There’s no obligation for these people to give up their evenings for your entertainment.
- # - nice! +2I can’t tell if something’s gone way over my head, or yours.
- # - nice! +3You’re whining about people not covering games – or am I misunderstanding?
- # - nice! +2Might said “give us a break” as in “lay off”. I was doing some horribly unfunny word play, pretending to take this as if they were asking for a second break straight after the first. I guess my humor is just too clever!
- # - nice! +1stop digging yourself a bigger grave idiot, mark has you figured out
- # - nice! +2lol, when I skimmed over his comment I did read it as them taking a break. But anyway, my point is, there are a lot of people complaining that Vanilla aren’t covering enough stuff. Well too fucking bad, you cunts.
- # - nice! +2What?
I thought vanillaTV was built upon the foundations of providing news and coverage of the TF2 scene in Europe.
If people are doing anything for the TF2 scene, playing/casting/writing content/producing movies/admin out of ‘obligation’ as you put it, there is clearly something intrinsically wrong.
- # - nice! +2That break you (we) had kaidus, that was yours when you didn’t do anything in VTV.
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +2Come on byte, that’s a load of horse shit and you know it.
- # - nice! +7Interesting :)

Byte
- # - nice! +1i46 was in August.
Exactly and we still kept coverage going didn’t have a month break carried all the way til mid Dec…
If you have something to contribute ( u being the ones commented above feel free to pm me on irc :))
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +2I dislike how you always go to dinner on the “feel free to contact me if you have something to contribute” card, not everyone has enough free time to help provide a casting service.. it doesn’t make the points they raise any less truthful or valid and they are still entitled to air them.
If there are others willing and able you should let someone else take over the reigns, you quite clearly do not fully understand how a community focused service should be ran.
No doubt this will be received as a scathing attack on your human rights or some shit, and if im honest its the reason why im looking forward to your reply so much. You little tart.
What point are you trying to make? You’re defending the people who criticise VanillaTV by saying they don’t have enough time to help cast when Byte says they should, but you’re attacking Byte and co for not having enough time to cast?
“If there are others willing and able you should let someone else take over the reigns”
Clearly there aren’t. That’s the point. Stop being such a fucking baby.
I suggest you keep out of this mammoth conflict as you clearly have not had access to the information I am privvy to.
However I will take the time to shed some light on the parts of my 3 sentence reply you are struggling with as I have a medium sized amount of respect for you due to your work as TeleBear
Im defending peoples right to criticize a community amenity without getting what has become the mandatory “do you even contribute?” response. I then went onto suggest byte was not fit for purpose regarding vtv.
Not sure where you’ve come up with an “attack on byte and co” from reading the reply, it’s clearly aimed at byte.
You’ve changed, boy you’ve changed. Guess I can expect such ass licking properties to engulf my personality once that PU2 finally arrives huh?
The problem is people are criticising those who do contribute, by saying that they do not contribute enough. It’s fine for people to criticise their work (e.g. cast quality, camera work, etc.) but it’s just ridiculous to whine about people not giving up their free time to cast.
And it’s fine for you to say that Byte shouldn’t run Vanilla, but the point is – who else is going to? None of the people complaining are going to step up – we’ve already seen that case.
Also, you are an absolute tool if you think that I’m the same person as Telebear (and yes, this goes for Byte as well).
- # - nice! +6hahaha mark <3 i don’t think u’re telebear however teasing u is enough for me :P

now fuck off.
- # - nice! +1Not sure if trolling or just stupid.
There is a difference between “omg why nobody doing anything” to “the camera man was always looking from epsilon’s POV, try looking from the worse team’s POV more”. One has a point and helps and the other is complaining about something that isn’t going to get fixed due to the complaint.
It is indeed annoying and/or stupid that Byte answers both criticism and rant/mad/rage with “u aint doin shit so come help or stfu” even though not in those words.
But at the end of the day he is kinda right in the hidden meaning behind his words – there is nothing to complain about, or rather – no point in complaining.
You can be mad and criticize all you want but the fact is either people didn’t have the time or they didn’t want to do it – your complaining doesn’t change or help the situation. A person who volunteered his time and doesn’t want to anymore/wants to take a break doesn’t care about you being mad “oh no givezz me casttt”. If you want to change the situation for better then step up, putting out a rant on VanillaTV about how they aren’t doing shit doesn’t help or change anything.
Unlike at a restaurant when I complain about the meat being undercooked and they go and fetch me some proper cooked meat. When you complain to VanillaTV about them not having time or motivation to do casts and taking a break, it doesn’t cause the situation to get fixed.
“If there are others willing and able” – able there probably are, but nobody is willing. From the way I see it your saying “fuck those VanillaTV guys, thinking they can just take a break and not do shit. Anybody could fill their shoes and better” – bottom line is there is no alternative, so what your saying has no grounds. Byte should step down because he answers good criticism and rants/pointless reply’s in the same way?
“you quite clearly do not fully understand how a community focused service should be ran.” – If all you are referring to is the manner in which Byte reply’s to people, then way to over-exaggerate. If there is more than that – then maybe you could be useful after all by giving some constructive criticism.
I would rather jump on the hate Byte bandwagon than defend him, but what your saying is stupid and is a mixed attack at VTV as well. There are a lot of things that you can attack or laugh at Byte with. No need to try and rush it.
- # - nice! +4Look kid I don’t know who you are but you sure like to type. Thats for fucking sure.
This site has been dead lately don’t you think?
This article could prove to be quite the reviver!
- # - nice! +4I hate typing. Especially when my hands are cold.
- # - nice! +0Yes the site has been dead since S13 ended, but now that ETF2L 6th Cup games came, the site is alive again.
This article could indeed be the reviver big boy!
Being voluntary or not, Vanilla TV has a big responsibility and can’t just take a break for months. It should have the goal of trying to do more and better and for that you should embrace criticism, not answer with: “u aint doin shit so come help or stfu”.
Also, never forget that the people criticizing Vanilla TV, for sure, care about it and are trying to point what they think is wrong and needs to be fixed.
Not saying that the people running Vanilla TV should devote themselves fulltime to it. They’re entitled to a break, but Vanilla TV can’t stop and they should guarantee something like season 13 doesn’t happen.
- # - nice! +4Didn’t season 13 start a month after i46?
- # - nice! +4Is nobody psyched about this tourney?!
So many exciting roster changes, not to mention the first officials deploying new unlocks to severely shake up the rusty old fart of a deadlocked meta game. It’s like Christmas came 348 days early this year.
- # - nice! +6Obviously not Torden, we have more “Have I got news for you” panelists, who can criticize, but never input effort :)
BigCecil VanillaTV is a volunteer casting org, if u think we get paid to run a schedule think again. At the moment we’re still thin on the ground with availability of casters/streamers, but we’re trying our best with what we have. Hence if people out there are wanting to contribute then great we’ll happily take a look.
If you’ve got something you’d like to contribute to VTV please feel free to do so. As for the rants above, tl:dr.
No but really am v glad this tournament is out especially with the unlocks is like a teaser of what we get to see for the upcoming season 14 :D
Also your ‘baby’ is back aka broder! How does this make you feel?!?! :p
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +0Byte, instead of getting drawn into petty little discussions and retorting along the lines of ‘you don’t contribute so you can’t criticise’, and instead of inviting people to PM you on IRC to find out what the hell you’re on about – why don’t you be more pro-active and actually write up a post detailing what sort of assistance you’re looking for, be it new casters, content writers, marketing etc.
Just a suggestion, and no I’m not going to PM you IRC to discuss it further.
- # - nice! +7We’ll get another…… rec post out see if it attracts those who can commit/stay committed shall we, excellent suggestion Trane.
Cheers

- # - nice! +0Trane come along just in the nick of time.
- # - nice! +3TF2 is saved, thanks Trane
- # - nice! +1NP, it’s just like how you saved autobots, only the opposite.
Those scrubs died without me
ps. kalho just summed up this entire argument
- # - nice! +1I can´t keep up with all this drama lately.
- # - nice! +0Something I’d like in these articles is linking to the etf2l pages for the teams, so you click on the team name and you can see the full lineup :)
- # - nice! +3Good idea. Updated the article.
- # - nice! +2should be a good game, qn is always a good team to watch. Plus Doc have been playing pretty well recently.
Wouldn’t like to call it.
- # - nice! +2Battle between HYS and fuo, i think Doctrinal will win.
This comment section is amazing, although I haven’t read a lot of the essays, great effort.
- # - nice! +4wb Hys
- # - nice! +0I wish these essay writers would instead invest more time in writing VTF2 articles or helping out VTV coverage >:)
- # - nice! +7But I’m glad people care enough to write big walls of text.
I did my share of trying to supply articles/coverage, but after some time like 5 of them never got approved and I lost interest. At least that is how I remember it.
- # - nice! +0I found 1 article by you in 2012 that for some reason didn’t get published, a bunch that did and a bunch from 2011. Would love to see more submitted if you’d be interested again :)
- # - nice! +3Just leave us a reminder on IRC in case we forget or something.
Let’s go teammmmmmmm !
- # - nice! +1I’m rooting for Leon. Go Greg!
- # - nice! +1Apologies for no cast, due to ddos’ing obviously with all the switching servers, both teams requested to us not continue the cast as any server they joined was getting ddos’ed.
Cheers
Byte
- # - nice! +0God dammit, byte! Stop DDoS’ing the servers, so you can have a longer break!
- # - nice! +6doesn’t the “go offline in steam friends” work anymore?
- # - nice! +1ok but in the end, who won?
- # - nice! +0doctrinal won, also they deserve some kind of “fairplay” award
- # - nice! +1wp fucktards
Please quit whining for one second, please.
We allowed you several pauses, mercs and your choice of servers to begin with. We couldn’t have finished the game on any other server than byte’s. Your 85ms ping clearly was no problem for you on process and you were top fragging for your team when you left on gullywash.
We were nothing if not sportsmanlike, where as you made us wait 30 min readied up whining about your less than 100 ping, when the game was already supposed to be done with.
Liar. First, the pauses/mercs were requested many times by each team. On process, you refused to try the server we suggested and forced us to play on a server where my ping was spiking up to more than 100. The fact, that suddenly, after all the wait, when we readied up my ping stabilized and it didn’t affect my play at all doesn’t change your lack of fairplay.
Btw since you just decided to answer me, have anything to say about what you did on badlands, when the server crashed? Can’t wait to ear your explanation.
PS: To anyone who doesn’t know what i’m talking about
- # - nice! +0www.twitch.tv/vanillatv/b/3557...
We tried every server you gave us, the last one being an ETF2L server which caused massive jitter and lag for several of our players, similar to the ddos effects we experienced on the first three servers. As I said, after 3 attacks on 3 different servers, byte’s server was the only secure server we could’ve played on, end of.
We didn’t need to allow your 2nd pause on gullywash, but we did. We didn’t need to allow you to get a 2nd merc, when it was nearly 2 am my local time, but we did.
On badlands spin was confused what was agreed on, so he started doing normal rollout buffs, hence the 9% at the start, then after a while (about 30 seconds by the vods) he figured you should have it by now and starts building. When you say you’re on 100% he stops for another 10 sec because he realises he started too early (because you didn’t charge properly). You then proceed to take more than 40 seconds to even take spire, by which time we would’ve had uber, not to mention spin popped ages after your uber was already over. No effect on anything, and you even capped the round in the end.
There, you “ear’d” my explanation.
ROFL
- # - nice! +0Really, how can you even try to justify? If you were “confused” or just “figured you should have it by now” (when it was pretty clear we were gonna let you know on the chat when we had 100%) why didn’t spin just type kill, changed class to loose the uber? You could easily asked to restart the round. But you didn’t do anything, you just kept going.
Nice explanation bro.
- # - nice! +0You guys took ages to get spire and get to last, and even then you failed to force the uber. He should’ve waited a little longer before building, technically, but it changed nothing.
- # - nice! +6You can harp on about that one situation all you like but I think you delaying this match for 45 minutes when it had already been delayed overules it.
- # - nice! +7get a room you guys
- # - nice! +1
- # - nice! +1On the VOD, Doctrinal pop uber over 40 seconds later than Quarantine get it.
What’s the problem?
- # - nice! +3Why can’t i reply to some comments?
Buffalo Bill “waited a little longer”
When we got 100% and told them they already had 44%…
And sure it does stark, sure it does. Anyway, i don’t even believe it would had change anything on the end result on the map or the match but how can you all justify/deny what they did.
- # - nice! +0At which he stopped for a little while. Between you guys getting 100% and Spin getting 100% is half a minute. Between Kritzonite ubering and Spin popping there’s another half a minute. Even with spire being given for free ánd a large headstart on uber percentage you guys took so goddamn long to finally push last (and failing at it) you wasted all of it and then some, giving Spin so much time to get uber that the fact he started building earlier than agreed on became insignificant.
And you can’t reply because there’s a limit to the number of consecutive replies possible.
- # - nice! +3Because there’s a limited to how intended a thread can be. If we allowed infinite indent you’d have a new line for every letter.
- # - nice! +2It doesn’t matter how long we took to push or how hard we failed when we did it. You’re all saying its ok to do this kind of dodgy and lame things if it doesn’t affect the outcome.
- # - nice! +0It was a mistake from our part, and if it had had an impact on the game there most likely would be repercussions. There was no malicious intent, and it’s just silly that you’re trying to demonise us over this one thing.
- # - nice! +4You must be pretty damn stupid to make a mistake like that. We’re you all sleeping at that moment to miss something like that
- # - nice! +1stfu please
