Trell — After two long days of practically non-stop TF2 action, the i45 tournament draws to a close today with 2 teams clawing their way to the top of the pile.

Team Infused (seeded 1st) arguably had the easier run, only dropping a few rounds throughout the entire competition – despite offclassing for the majority of the tournament, with, for example, Greg on Demoman and Mike on Scout.  This didn’t seem to hamper them in any way, as they breezed through the opposition with relative ease.

Elemental Violence (seeded 3rd) had a closer run to the final – beating -=Crazy=- in the first KO round 5-0, however, in the second round they came up against Zumba! in what would prove to be the game of the tournament up until then.  You can see the VOD of the game if you missed it here.  The game ended with a last ditch cap, making it 5-5, and eV managed to grab the golden cap, putting them safely through.  It’s interesting to note that Zumba! were seeded 2nd overall in this tournament.  Elemental Violence then went on to lose out to Team Infused (oh the irony) in the Upper Bracket Final, before beating Zumba! once more, with a score of 2 to 1 in the Consolation Final, earning them a spot in the Grand Final.

This afternoons cast should be amazing to watch, with both teams fighting it out for the 360 GBP grand prize AND the free i46 tickets.  The runner up will recieve 120 GBP and a general feeling of dissapointment.   Pledge and  Byte will be casting the final LIVE on the Multiplay finals stage.

While you wait for todays action to begin, why not take a look at one of our interviews from the event, with none other than numlocked from team infused?

March 22nd Announcement
Tagged: All The Moneys donations vanillatf2 vanillatv

Leftism — Last year, we had some very kind members of our community donate so we could cover our server expenses: in total we raised € 186,-. With € 90,- of that now spent on the box that hosts this website, all of you clever mathematics clogs can easily figure out how much we have left. For those who don’t have the gift of subtraction in their head: this means only € 96,- of the original donations is left.

Eventually – as with all money – this will deplete completely and we might be left without a webserver. At VanillaTF2/TV we’re looking to you, the kind members of our community, to donate any spare cash you can to keep us going, so we can continue to provide you with as many casts as we can.

Once again, we promise to only use the raised money for server upkeep, sending staff to LANs and for related purchases to help us expand and provide better quality coverage. We will continue to make these expenses publicly available, so you will know where your donations are being invested.

Skyride has been kind enough to implement a “Donate” button to make the donation process easier; you can find it just to the right of this post!

Once again, thanks for your continued support!

March 17th Announcement

Trell — iSeries has long been considered a mainstay for TF2 players – and the Summer iSeries is always considered the biggest (and best).  The UKCS community is returning for Summer at i46, after a successful outing  to i43 last year – and this is your chance to win a free BYOC ticket!

If you’ve never visited an iSeries event before, you’re missing out, and since we all love TF2, I can personally assure you that a Summer TF2 final is certainly something to behold – and something that you should experience at least once in your life.  It runs from the 23rd – 27th August and there are heavy rumours of North American TF2 teams being shipped over too, as if you needed any more incentive to enter!

To enter, simply click here and follow the instructions.  Please take note of the terms & conditions.

March 16th Announcement

Arie — Our current dedicated server has decided to randomly lock up and die, causing about a day’s worth of downtime over the last 30 days, so we’re switching servers.

Over the next 24 hours the site will start to point to the new server. While this switch is happening it will be slower for users that are logged in.

Update: Looks like we’re all done, everything’s looking great ;)

November 16th Announcement

Torden — We don’t  have much prizes to give away for contribution, but if you look down the list of current posts, there’s a name popping up quite often: Trell. It’s not just the posts, some of you will have noticed he’s been informing both users of NATF2, ETF2L as well as being the lead man in getting together the arrangements to get the games casted. In totally-not-an effort to find an excuse to screw over his 6-post streak, I’d just like to give Trell an official pat, thanks bro. As you were.

November 11th Announcement
Tagged: steam valve

Leftism — Although not TF2 related, this issue will affect everyone that will read this site. On November 6th, the Steams User Forums (SPUF) were defaced. Valve originally closed down the forums for unclear “maintenance” issues. The company later learned that the intrusion went much further than just the Steam forums alone as the investigation has revealed the intruders gained access to a number of other pieces of information relating to databases of the Steam client service. A full statement from Gabe Newell can be found after the jump.

It is stressed, however, that private information such as passwords and payment details are stored behind both encryption as well as passwords being hashed and salted – go and wiki/google/<insert preferred search method here> it if you don’t know what that means, I’m no computer security expert by any means. The investigation into Sunday night’s intrusion is still ongoing however there has been no evidence yet that any sensitive information has been cracked. Although account password changes are not being enforced at this moment in time, it is being advised by Valve as “not a bad idea”.

Torden — It’s been a few slow weeks in the news. Oddly, it’s a symptom of something healthy, players are busy duking out their battles where they should: In TF2. But we can’t get complacent with bringing the word out, if we want the game to become a spectator sport, we’ve gotta fight for it, promote it, get involved!

Our site currently reaches a whopping 25 000 people unique visitors each month. Philosophically speaking, it’s a pretty fantastic idea to think about how easy it is to reach them: Log in using your steam account, click the “write an article” button, write some shit and submit.

So what’s there to write about? Here’s a list of cool things you might want to know.
