Beta — I am sure you all know your alphabet by now but for those who don’t we are here to help!

In an aid to help have some steady content on VanillaTV and to help the community arrange games, we are pleased to introduce ABC Tuesday Cast.

ABC Tuesday

So what is an ABC cast?  Well, this will be a regular weekly cast featuring AcidReniX & Beta with Comedian providing the streaming.  For the Tuesday…well if you haven’t guessed already, this feature will be every Tuesday.

So how does this help the community?  We continually experience issues with games arranged late and VTV being unable to provide a cast or stream.  By scheduling your games on a Tuesday and informing VTV, we will be able to provide high level commentary and streaming to the masses.

Same old stuff?  In an effort to bring the games to the masses, we will be willing to cast and stream a wide range of division games, across multiple competitions in an aid to help kill your boredom.

So what are you waiting for?  Get scheduling now and help us help you! We are not psychics, please make sure you schedule early and inform a member of the VTV staff.

CUBE — Apologies lately for the lack of content (other than the abundance of i45 coverage). I’m right in the middle of my university exams which is a good excuse I promise! Frag Movies of the Month March IS in the works but in the mean time enjoy SNSD vs Colony from the POV of TviQ.

We will be giving away some DotA 2 beta keys, courtesy of Gamers United to our winners. Similar to the Face-Off competition we had last year, we have seeded our teams into a Pro and Novice bracket and have incorporated different formats into this cup, including single elimination, round robin and best of three. To check out all the details on this cup’s format and the time schedule, go to this link.

We are pleased to see some old and new teams enter including xTc|Severe, a veteran team recently acquired by South Africa’s oldest MGO Xperts@Total.Chaos.

New maps to the pool this time round include cp_croissant_b7, cp_bazillion_rc5 and cp_mainline_rc6. We’d like to invite every one to come listen in to the Pro Bracket finals.

VanillaTV i45 feedback post

Comedian — Well, I hope you guys are all at home, having recovered a bit from the intense weekend that was Insomnia 45. We here at VanillaTV have caught back up on some sleep, and in order to reflect back on the event we would like to gather some feedback from you, the viewer at home, so that we can improve things for Insomnia 46, which is scoping up to be a fantastic event.

Anyhow, regarding the feedback we are looking for, we have several specific points that we are looking for your opinions about which are listed below. We are looking for both things you liked and didn’t like, but in the case you did not like something, we are only looking for constructive criticism, so please try to frame your feedback in a nice way. There is a difference between giving feedback and just being plain offensive, and we hope that you will not go past this limit.

  1. The Grand Finals – As we cannot influence the match itself (we hope), we are looking for feedback on everything around it, specifically; the introduction of the players and casters on-stage, the between map interview with elem-v, the way the cheerfuls were presented and distributed, the camerawork in-game by myself, and anything else we missed.
  2. The post-processed and edited Youtube content such as the intro video, interviews, spitfire rounds, and 1v1 interviews (these are to be released!). What Did you like, what did you think could have been done better, and what is something that you would like to see at the next event?
  3. Scheduling – how easy did you find it to see who/what was getting casted and find information in general?
  4. Rebroadcast – We ran a rebroadcast of the day’s events during the night, so for those of you that tuned in, what did you think about it? could we have improved it, or just do it the same way?
  5. The saturday night cp_toxic mix community cast – Should we have done it? Its not professional but it shows lan atmosphere and was greatly enjoyed by all people in the casting room. I do not know how it was enjoyed by the people at home, and if it is something we would want to repeat.
  6. And finally, Casting – Please limit yourself to giving feedback on Pledge, CUBE and myself regarding casting done at lan. For myself, i also appreciate feedback on camera positioning and movement.

Hopefully, we will be able to gain some great feedback from this post, and improve, what was in my eyes the best coverage any TF2 event has had, to even greater standards.

Trell — Spoiler: the final wrap up is after the jump, just in case you haven’t seen the Grand Final results or Vods yet.

We’ve seen some great TF2 over the past three days, direct from Insomnia 45 in Telford, with everyone agreeing that by far the game of the tournament was Round 2 of the Double Elim stages, between  Elemental Violence and  Zumba! – click here to see the vod.

The VanillaTV staff have been busy little beavers too with tons of content for you to work your way through, as well as doing all the streaming and casting from the event.  A big thanks to  Byte,  Pledge,  Comedian,  CUBE and  Bones for all their hard work and dedication this weekend (also a special mention to  skyride for helping with technical issues).  Listed below is most of the content uploaded so far.

May 6th Announcement

Trell — After two long days of practically non-stop TF2 action, the i45 tournament draws to a close today with 2 teams clawing their way to the top of the pile.

Team Infused (seeded 1st) arguably had the easier run, only dropping a few rounds throughout the entire competition – despite offclassing for the majority of the tournament, with, for example, Greg on Demoman and Mike on Scout.  This didn’t seem to hamper them in any way, as they breezed through the opposition with relative ease.

Elemental Violence (seeded 3rd) had a closer run to the final – beating -=Crazy=- in the first KO round 5-0, however, in the second round they came up against Zumba! in what would prove to be the game of the tournament up until then.  You can see the VOD of the game if you missed it here.  The game ended with a last ditch cap, making it 5-5, and eV managed to grab the golden cap, putting them safely through.  It’s interesting to note that Zumba! were seeded 2nd overall in this tournament.  Elemental Violence then went on to lose out to Team Infused (oh the irony) in the Upper Bracket Final, before beating Zumba! once more, with a score of 2 to 1 in the Consolation Final, earning them a spot in the Grand Final.

This afternoons cast should be amazing to watch, with both teams fighting it out for the 360 GBP grand prize AND the free i46 tickets.  The runner up will recieve 120 GBP and a general feeling of dissapointment.   Pledge and  Byte will be casting the final LIVE on the Multiplay finals stage.

While you wait for todays action to begin, why not take a look at one of our interviews from the event, with none other than numlocked from team infused?
