After a hard fought 15 minute round with we-r, -A- hit their grove and showed why they are the #1 clan in the Oceania region. They showed pure dominance over we-r heading into this grand final re-re-re-match vs rewound. The two have faced off in the last 3 big competition finals (csm2, owl2, c4c) with -A- taking the last 2 recent matches.

rewound will need to hit a new level if they are to threaten -A- after beating kings in 2 maps this week. During that match they showed both how good they can be and also how messy they have been vs -A- in the past: lost to -A- 5-1, 5-2 C4C grand final.

As always, it should be a good game to tune into on the standard granlands maps. rewound will definitely put up a better fight than we-r and if the rumours are true and rewound have been far more active – who knows what upset could occur?

Capping for a Cause: An Australian Tournament aimed at Cancer Awareness

Update: -A- wins (granary 5-1, badlands 5-2). Congrats!

8 weeks ago we started a 2 division, double elimination tournament with the pure aim of raising money to fight cancer. It came about on the back of one of our local players was diagnosed with a tumor, and her friends approaching us admins to come up with a tournament for cancer awareness.

Teams were asked to “buy their seed” with the higher donations granting them easier paths through the competition. This allowed lower tier clans to come up with funds to boost their seed, and consequently their chances of winning. Each cap out gave each clan 1 ticket and prizes will be drawn in a raffle format at the conclusion of the tournament – once again giving lower tier clans more motivation to enter.

Along the way ozfortress.com donated $1 per cap out per match, certain players gave $10 per cap out for New Zealand teams only to give them some country pride! Now as we approach the Grand Final for each division, we have raised over $5500 so far and will hopefully crack the $6000 mark over the next week!

How? Well tonight is the Division 1 Grand Final between -A- and rewound, and for every spectator that joins, a community member (DaN) will be donating $1 to the cause. Whatever the spectator count peaks at, will be the donation amount. So tune in tonight @ Sunday, 13 June 2010 at 1:00:00 PM (UTC+2 hours CEST) and help fight cancer!
