byte — Evening ladies & gents, as I have the night off from TSE, I decided to cover a must win game for either team but for different reasons. evokate gaming to stay in contention of the playoff spots, and causeWEcan earning their first points to avoid the relegation playoff’s.
I’ll be watching that beast of a demo Brego, also will beavern & wltrs be able to aid him on his quest of sublime damage? Or will they crumble and die first. On the other hand, evokate gaming have tek as pocket soldier and the beast dmer T-mac on roam, with T-mac not being on a leash now (unlike last season) be the key to him shining in prem this season?+
Byte — An exciting match for you tonight, with the legendary F2 moving forward with LEGO. They survived their first test against the solid but content Israeli team ahvaT hA neshariM winning in a close fought match on cp_gullywash 5-3 and cp_granary 4-3.
Fenneks e-sports on the other hand secured a draw versus the powerhouse finns The MIPC Organization, narrowly losing out on granary but deservedly winning gullywash, a straight win versus LEGO would overtake LEGO and put Fenneks right back in automatic promotion for Premiership next season.
Medic – F2
Demoman – Dr.Phil
Soldiers – crizzl and Natural
Scouts – helberg and zen
I caught up with F2 for a few words going into this match tonight:
“I believe it will be a really close match where small mistakes will decide who wins. Their players have more experience at this level, but with our controlled play style, I believe we have a good chance of winning both maps. Also, shoutout to calm
Medic – skeej
Demoman – kr4tos
Soldiers – Salmon and Killari
Scouts – gf_18 and delzic
kr4tos had a few words to say going into this match:
“After our playoff match and our week 1 match were not that what we really wanted to score in these matches. we are looking forward now to play our week 2 match now. we know LEGO is not an easy opponent since they tried really hard and playing together for a long time, but we are prepared for this match and we feel ready”
Byte — Boy have we got 2 mouth watering semi finals tonight, after the previous champions Germany were knocked out by the USA last week. France have a chance to grab that Cup off the Germans after being runner up last year.
Having said that, Finland have been practicing for this nations cup my informants tell me, it’s almost as if they believe they should win it, however France will have other ideas, after a dominant display against Denmark winning 5-0 & 2-0 respectively on gully and badwater.
After the few performances we’ve seen Rouhe shine quite alot for Team Finland as sniper, will he be able to take on the likes of Flippy? Obviously one of the key classes to remove in Highlander especially on enormous open maps. k3 & Muffin will have to wear protective headgear to keep their heads for this one.
Join VanillaTV tonight at 21:15cest with Skully & Hildreth on the mics, and Rinta directing the play.
If this wasn’t enough coverage for you, we will be casting the second game on our secondary twitch channel.
The favourites in this years Nations Cup highlander have been, the very quiet Swedes, ploughing through the teams as if they’ve already won it, all be it unfortunately Canada defaulted their game due to the time zone difference and were unable to gather the players, which is a shame.
Having said that, Sweden have more default wins than actual wins, I wonder if official playtime with each other will be a deciding factor tonight versus the USA, we saw how they showed a clear dominance versus the Germans, and with the amount of official time being played, you’d have to favour the yanks to take this one off the Swedes.
A potential upset, or maybe just a sign from the USA in preparation for i49 to show a dominant display in all sectors of TF2, 6′s and 9′s!
byte — You couldn’t ask for more vodka than in this game. You can’t help but feel if you made a dare to both teams, to drink a shot of pure vodka for everytime they get a kill, it’d be a funnier battle; it’s a pity we don’t have the team comms for this one. Russia will be wanting to advance to the quarters , however they didn’t have a smooth ride, convincingly losing one game to the polskis on pl_upward and cp_gullywash_final1.
Finland on the other hand had a smooth grasp so far in this seasons nations cup, winning convincingly 6-0 in Group D, they’ll be looking for a challenge versus the Russki’s with the raw power Finland have, the favourites have to be Finland. Russia will have to play their finest hour of gaming in a best of 3 maps to gain a place in the quarter finals of the ETF2L Highlander Nations Cup.
byte — Back from the ETF2L final, we decided to cover the 4th cup in a row for ESA. Refining these unlocks being brought in. Sir Canfo has modified the list, to no quickfix now. Hoping maybe valve tweak it slightly..
Last week was more about it being interesting and see how the top teams managed to use these wonderful unlocks, and if so which ones actually were useful. Judging by the games last week seemed heavy become more viable along with the black box in which Gear made use of!
The last tournament seemed to favour the later start, as the semi-finals have been reduced to a BO1 format, so check-in starts at 14.45 cest and the tournament itself starts at 16.45 cest. The top 8 teams will receive a share of a £100 prize pool into their ESA account, and players who don’t have a Premium account can still compete for the Ozone Rage ST headsets.
Join our Byte, SuddenlyStarMia and our streamers Arie and bones from approximately 16.45 cest to catch all the action!
SuddenlyStarMia — As we go on over to Week 3 of the ETF2L Highlander Nations Cup, we see a match in the group stages between last year’s champions, Germany and the underrated Ireland. So far, Germany has picked up a comfortable 6-0 against Iceland last week and a default win vs Israel in week one. In the meanwhile, Ireland are not looking so strong with a firm loss against Denmark and a default loss from Israel. Both teams need all the points they can to guarantee a chance to be in the playoffs. Could the Irish pull it back tonight or are the Germans just too strong?
We caught up with Germany’s Pyro, Anoobis for a few quick words:
Anoobis: I am feeling pretty confident going into the match tonight. Our roster is pretty strong even with a few subs here and there. It will be a nice match to watch. Ireland have a strong roster containing of highlander and 6v6 people and they should give us a good run. Maybe we’ll also see Admirable – that’ll be hilarious. Gravelpit should be really exciting to watch because in contrary to Viaduct, Gravelpit requires a lot of coordination – a lot of people have mixed feelings about it.
Whilst our favourite potatoman caster, Admirable, had just this to say:
Admirable: oh man it will be a rape Admirable: quote me Admirable: :D
Scout – RazorsEdge
Soldier – KLar
Pyro – Anoobis
Demoman – Brego
Heavy – Schmuse
Engineer – quintosh
Medic – Homer J.
Sniper – Der_Milchmann
Spy – Solid
beach — Sunday 23rd June (i.e. tomorrow!) sees the launch of the first TF2 Open Cup hosted by the Electronic Sports Association (ESA), as announced last week by CanFo in his article on VanillaTF2. Obviously as this is an exciting new venture for TF2, we want to cover as much of it as possible, so we will be bringing you a casting marathon throughout the day, featuring as many of the top games as we can possibly get our hands on!
Rules / setup
Map and round format
This tournament will be played in the same style as the rest of the world plays TF2 (yay Europe we’re different); that is, 5cp maps will be played in 2 halves of 30 minutes each, or until one team reaches a total of 5 capture points. If 5 caps are not reached, then the team with the highest number will win after the full hour. In the event of a tie, then a Golden Cap round with no timelimit will be played, and whoever takes the round will win the game, similarly to our own Golden Cap system, just without the 10 minute timelimit – so we could be in for some epic games! On King of the Hill maps, there will again be 2 halves, but this time with no timelimit. The first half will end after a team wins 3 rounds, after which the teams switch sides, and the overall winner is the first team to reach 4 total caps.
Each round will be played as a Best of 1; if you lose the map, you’re out! This will change once we hit the semi-finals, which will be played as a Best of 3.
Team rosters (a quick note from CanFo!)
Teams can only use players on their roster that also have correctly entered their Steam IDs (no mercs). Furthermore, CanFo can only approve signups of teams with at least 6 players who have a correctly entered Steam ID – so if you haven’t got this information entered into your ESA Profile, don’t forget to do it before tomorrow!
