Comandante mvp was kind enough to provide us with his innermost thoughts on the subject;

The ETF2L Final for sure gonna be a very tense and exciting match. So far all matches between us been rather close. The last 2 ETF2L league matches both ended in a draw. In the EMS Epsilon was able to win the Final, while we won the Wireplay Final. It’s all set for a close match.

With the maps being badlands and obscure (gullywash as decider) we are pretty confident to at least go to the decider map. I predict it all goes down to the form on the day anyways. I’m gonna leave nothing to chance though, so I’m spending a decent amount of time reviewing our strats, and if needed adjust them. Might be a bit harder this time, due to Epsilon using Predz instead of Shintaz. People might think that’s a disadvantage for Epsilon, but I am not really agreeing to that. Predz is a very good and experienced Scout, and it gives me a headache to figure out how he will influence the general play and tactics of Epsilon.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if Shintaz actually plays tomorrow.

Clearly Judgement day is upon us, as Extremer proves a coherent quote.

So, the ETF2L finals.. Another nice headset (and cash). kewl shit

Anyway, just before our winter break we won EMS finals vs Blight, sadly right after it we lost to them in the Wireplay finals. So currectly the score is 1-1 and this is the last final to play. Who will win? Almost impossible to predict. You better watch it, this is TF2 history in the making. (except for obscure, it’s probably going to be boring as fuck)

A Whole Lot of Guess Work

So it is reading week for me at university and I am still yet to be set any actual work, love the second year :D. Anyway, here is me attempting to predict the final placements for the Season 8 ETF2L, you can all a buy me a drink at i42 when I am right. Just to clarify, it is currently unconfirmed how the relegation system will work in Season 8 for the Premier Division, with the only answer I could rustle up being that it depends on how many drops there are. So this article is written on the basis that places 1-4 will enter the play-offs for first place plus prizes and that tenth place will be relegated automatically and eighth and ninth will either play-off to see who is relegated or both be relegated. So on that basis let’s carry on…

I will start off with the simple and that is for Team Refuse to Finnish bottom (Sorry I had to). They find themselves in the fateful spot where they are too good for Division 1 but unable to properly compete at a Premier Division level. Despite some quality players who have played at the top level before, including Fluffy, olliii and dancing queen xzar, they have lost all 3 of their opening ETF2L officials and I am afraid I cannot see a reason why this trend would change anywhere in the near future and are destined to end the season bottom. While they have struggled to compete this season, they are still defiantly better than the majority of Division 1 teams and if they stick together I am sure they would bounce right back. Also if the relegation play-off system is used I foresee they will struggle against who ever their opponents are, never say never but I would not put any money on an upset here.

That leaves 8 teams fighting it out for the 4 play-off places and desperately trying to avoid being the team to fill the final relegation spot. Starting from the top down, I would be hard pushed to bet against Epsilon at the moment. All of their players are capable of round and game changing clutch plays at any time, couple this with their tactical creativity and the amount of they have played together as a team and it leads to a powerful combination. They have already played and beaten two of the other top4 teams and proven they are more than capable than beating the other with their victory over Dignitas in EMS. Taking everything into account I would be mad not to put them down as my favourites to top the Premier Division.

Moving down to second spot I would have to go for Power Gaming to be the closest team to Epsilon. They only missed out on taking 3 points of Epsilon , in ETF2L, because of a mix up towards the end of Gullywash that wasted their uber. However, they do have one of the most impressive rosters assembled in recent times and will undoubtedly prove too strong for the majority of the Premier Division. They have shown they can cope with high pressure situations with LAN victories, their death match has never been called into question and no one will want to face them in the play-offs.

TCM-Gaming possess an equally impressive roster on paper and despite a recent lull in form after their break in activity and the loss of main caller Haunter, they are still a great team. Let us not forget that not too long ago they were almost unbeatable. Even with the adjustment of Byte to main caller all of their players are more than experienced enough to outclass enough of the Premier Division on the standard maps to get themselves into a play-off position. They can only get better the more they play with their new line-up and caller, how much they pull themselves together will dictate how they perform in the play-offs.

The final play-off spot is really up for grabs, with pretty much any of those not previously mentioned in with a chance of grabbing it. Though honestly I think it is Blight’s to lose. They have been the team closest to the top4 for a long time now, despite fading into the background recently with a gap in activity and a reshuffle of their scout pairing. They recently beat k1ck pretty conclusively and look much more consistent that their closest contenders, Dignitas. Dignitas have slipped back into inactivity giving lacklustre displays and disappointing performances. They do, however, have the potential to be the best team in Europe, as we have all seen in the past. They are a big game team and I believe this means if they do prove me wrong and claw their way into the play-offs then they can have much more of an impact than Blight could.

Now, the best of the rest; Fakkel Brigade, k1ck and overGame Mister. An outside shot at the play-offs is a possibility but more realistically they will all be looking to avoid relegation. k1ck are the most consistent of these 3, with star man wltrs firing on all cylinders at the moment and plenty of skill and death match ability across the rest of the team. Unfortunately they are only consistently “ok” and quite often find themselves out classed by other teams team play and experience together. I am predicting narrowly avoiding relegation with a seventh place finish.

Mister have to be the most inconsistent team. At times they look more than capable of coping and taking maps off the best teams around but then get completely dominated by other teams around and below their level. Meanwhile, Fakkel Brigade has struggled for a while to turn PCW form into ETF2L points. It could really swing either way depending who can turn it on when it matters. I am going to have to vote with my heart though and predict Exfane’s men to pull it out of the bag and finish an almighty sixth. While this means Mister would find themselves in eighth spot and possibly have to play-off verses Refuse, I  am confident in saying Mister would over come this hurdle though and stay in the Premier Division if the system works their way!

Thanks for reading, as always any feedback is appreciated, below is how I expect the table to look at the end if all goes to plan and there are no drops. Good luck to all teams competing.

Season 8 Final Standings:

  1.  Epsilon eSports
  2.  Power Gaming
  3.  TCM-Gaming
  4.  Blight Gaming
  5.  Team Dignitas
  6.  Fakkel Brigade
  7.  k1ck
  8. Mister
  9.  Team Refuse

Blight-Gaming (as you can see already) will expand over to Europe and we’re very happy to be a part of it.

June 14th Interviews
Tagged: Blight broder epsilon Interviews

It’s been a couple of lazy weeks in the world of VanillaTF2.org. Meanwhile, a few interesting interviews are out. Here they are, in inverse chronology.

idk? – Onlinegamer.se

An interview done by Morf.

Could you all please introduce yourselves briefly for the readers?

Extremer: – ”Hi, I’m Extremer from team I Don’t Know? and I play to win. That’s why I use the Gaming Glove© to provide me with the necessary conditions to win.”
F2: – ”I have played medic for 3 months in idk now. I also played medic for 6 months in Imperial but that’s a long time ago!”
Shintaz: – ”Hello, I’m Shintaz. I’ve been on and off TF2 since the release and I scout for the lovely team idk?”
wai: – ”Hi I’m wai, I’m 23 years old from Wales and I play soldier for idk?”

Since you were going through lineup changes before and in the beginning of the last ETF2L season, what were your expectations on yourselves in that season?

Extremer: – ”We had a really tough time in Season6 with all the lineup changes. We tried fixing that before Season7 started and I think you could say we succeeded. With the new stable lineup we expected to be around the 4-5th place.”
F2: – ”Last season we struggled a lot with lineup changes so I hoped we could do better this season. Last season we got 13 points and after our first 4 matches this season we had 15 points so by then my goal had been reached. Anything higher than those 15 points would just be a bonus. I never expected that we’d end top3. But when we won the ESH cup mid-season our expectations got higher.”
Shintaz: – ”Technically, I am a lineup change. After Slick persuaded me to come back full-time (around half way through Season 7) I don’t think anyone had the expectation that we were going to win.”

Casey (US medic) – Blight Gaming

An interview done by  Blackfog.

Casey is one of the top medics in competitive TF2, he has been playing with Evil Geniuses for quite sometime with reptile, destro, and cyzer. Recently he just up and left the team with EG scrambling to get grillz to medic for them. Now to hear Caseys response.

blight blackfoger: Now the community is wondering why did you leave EG?

Going into the LAN finals in Dallas, I was already contemplating retiring from comp. games in general. After the initial cuts involving Phelon and Syckness I was pretty upset and was ready to throw in the towel. I decided to play if Yaug and Phelon came back, which ended up happening… but things just didn’t click like they once did. With Destro going afk & Yaug not leading like he once did, it was very hard for me to get my head back in the game. The decision to leave came down to the fact that our team chemistry was not evolving in a positive way and I wasn’t having nearly as much fun as I did in the past seasons.

Torden – mytf2

An interview done by Peoplez

Hey torden, first of all thank you for the time you´re offering us… could you please introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello, I’m Sivert “Torden” Bakkeng, medic and captain for Broder (7 brothers who aren’t brothers) from Tønsberg, southern Norway.

Tell us a bit about broder, like how did you guys get together?

Broder officially formed this January, but it was in the works long before that. We had a lot of fun with team Norway last Summer.
We were many people clanless/on vacation, but decided to look into the possibility of creating a team. But we needed a scout (and eventually a soldier). So, it was a sleeper project for about half a year. But then Hboda folded, which opened up for some great players.
Ironically, there aren’t that many Norwegians left active in our team :p

On a personal level, after wotr I was quite tired of high level clan play. However, while I was clanless I got to merc for a few teams that showed me there are different ways of playing. I was offered good spots, such as last Summer’s TCM and this Winter’s idk? but, I didn’t like their game mechanics, and had a lot more fun trying to implement that of Dignitas with a new team of new and old friends.

March 25th Gossip
Tagged: Blight ESEA Evil Geniuses NA Pandemic

In NA it is currently off-season which has lead to several changes in the top tier teams.

Evil Geniuses (who finished third at ESEA LAN Playoffs) “cuts” both sycknesS (scout) and pheLon (soldier). They will be replaced with ruwin (scout, who used to play medic) and Seagull (soldier). Seagull was in Blight who finished 2nd at the ESEA Lan. Ruwin was also in Blight at the beginning of the season, but unexpectedly quit TF2.

Kermit is leaving Pandemic (who will be under a new name since their sponser died) after not making it to the ESEA LAN (Pandemic were forced to use Shade who some people had never heard of). He will be replaced by Droog, a top level ESEA-Open (mid-low d2) demoman, who will be on his first ESEA roster.

A new invite level team (Division 1) is forming and has an expected roster of paladin (scout/soldier), punisher (scout), syckness (scout/sniper), grillz (medic), hong (soldier), dummy (demoman) and the return of boodah (sniper/scout). It has not been announced who their main 6 players will be.
