As confirmed by manager
Slick, the folding of idk? Pink is now a fact. In what follows, a small dive into what happened with the once promising bubbler of TF2: Idk? Gold/Frog/Pink.
Season 7 proved to be a roller coaster ride for many teams. Amongst those teams, a humble group of Frenchmen. Fighting to achieve strong results in the pre season, the team fit the bill as a stable and strong candidate to fill the sudden div1 hole created by the demise of Rockit’s 2nd generation. It was a controversial decision and left the team with a lot of outside pressure for results. And with the team’s lack of strong results for quite some time now, it seemed quite clear changes would be inevitable.
One of those changes came yesterday, with
Xzar making the transition to his fellow Finns, Illegal. We contacted Xzar for more info:
VanillaTF2: So, tell me what happened. Why did you leave Pink, and why did you join Illegal?
Xzar: ermm well, summer has been bringing a lot of stress on the team, Sidney wanting to quit and people’s schedules not fitting together, which resulted in not playing pcws and poor results. In the meantime though ollii contacted me about bringing illegal back and participating in assembly and so on. I already agreed to play on assembly for them earlier. In the meantime when pinkies weren’t praccing, I was mostly playing with illegal. And though the teamplay still isn’t there, it felt a lot better than the pink games lately.Soo, last week I talked with Hansa about how I was feeling about all this and he assured me that the team would carry on without me and there were no hard feelings. So I made the choice to go back to my old buddies. But apparently things haven’t moved that smooth since then >_> …I hope they can bring it back after summer. They’re a lovely bunch of frenchies (and german :P).
VanillaTF2 Are you gonna stay motivated, now that Techron revealed his assessments on your skill level?
Xzar: :D I think I’ll manage.
Thanks for the comments and good luck in Illegal!
We got in touch with Frog senior,
Hansa to hear more:
Hansa: Recon had vacation with school. He has been away and during this 2 weeks we didn’t play that much, cause most of the team didn’t want to play with 2 mercs. Then sidney was bored by the game and didnt want to play more than 2 games a week during summer. And he was about to leave us in September anyway due to work. We all entered in a general state of no motivation and the game we played was terrible.
VanillaTF2: What about the promotion to Div1? Did you feel a lot of pressure with it?
Hansa: Yes and No. Playing in div1 is the best experience i had on TF2 so far. It’s my first fps game and being able to play against people that play fps game since 5 years+ feels amazing. There was pressure – but even after ending 8th we didn’t fold. We simply didn’t enjoy playing anymore. But we’re still together sitting around on mumble, playing different games etc. Maybe there will be a resurrection in September, who knows. I’d say my biggest disappointment is not being able to go to i40. We were booked for it, but have to cancel. Some of us might go as spectators though.
Big thanks to Hansa for his thorough comments. Let’s hope the boys find the motivation to come back after a vacation.
So there we have it. Illegal is now a demoman richer, and idk? Pink is no more. It seems appropriate to end this little post with some well articulated words about Xzar, expressed by the gentleman, the scholar, the legend…the Techtron:
