TF2 Highlander

International Gaming League

International Gaming League is proud to announce our TF2 Highlander Ladder.

With support from great community sites like backpack.tf & teamfortress.tv IGL has gained quite the following! With over 160 teams registered for June’s ladders, it’s sure to be an exciting journey to the top of the ladder!

So… What makes IGL ladders so great?

You’ll always have time for IGL! Matches 24×7 – 365
Play in another league? Don’t think you have time? You’ll always have time for IGL! Teams can register for an hourly match pool where the captains vote for the map of the hour. Once the top of the hour hits, teams are paired against someone of their skill set & the match begins! There’s also the traditional ladder challenge feature available as well, where you can challenge a specific team, date/time & map of your choice. We’re totally flexible!

Awesome ranking system
Each team starts with 100 points. If you beat a team with more points than you, you get 5% of their points. If you beat a team ranked lower than you, you receive 2.5% of their points. We also award teams who go on a hot streak, by providing 1 additional point per win once you’ve reached 5. Want to climb to the top fast? Challenge the big guys! You don’t have much to lose; but they do!

Fair matches
Every 15 days the ladder divisions are re-aligned to ensure you’re always competing versus teams within your own skill & activity level

We provide EVERYTHING!
Don’t have a server? Don’t have a team? That’s no problem at IGL! IGL provides servers in all 4 corners of the continental USA, as well as North & South Central servers. Thats a total of over 60 servers in 6 locations. You’ll always have a great ping! We find the best server location for you & your opponent then reserve it specifically for your match! Our advanced team builder feature allows captains to invite friends via email, or recruit players off of the free agent system. Players can also apply directly to teams from the team profile page, join automatically via password, or a captain can invite a player to their team from the free agent list, or players’ profile. There’s many ways to find a team at IGL!

Staying in touch & joining a match has never been easier!
The IGL platform sends REAL-TIME, on-site notifications to players upon challenges, match start, and forum discussions. We make it easy for captains to gather their team before a match. Joining matches could not be any simpler for TF2 teams. When it’s match time, visit your Matches tab in your player dashboard where you will be presented with a PLAY button where you can instantly join the match server,

The BIG league experience
All teams at IGL have the potential to be broadcasted in an official IGL match with professional broadcasting technologies, including cutting-edge transitions, instant replays and enthusiastic commentators.

Gain a following
Buried among the league and all of it’s match centric features is a social media aspect. Players can now follow other players, teams, and matches. Get real-time updates on players you’re following, find out when your favourite team has a match, or get reminded when your next opponent is about to play that important match.

Front-page exposure
Get your team & brand exposed to thousands of gamers every day by having your upcoming match featured on IGL’s home page. Popular matches are featured on the home page. Increase your personal & team following to gain popularity. Have your friends vote for your match to further increase your exposure & chance of being broadcasted.

All this and much much more are available at www.playigl.com

CUBE — ETF2L’s 3rd Season of Highlander comes to a conclusion tonight as  SNSD look to defend their title against  Parrot Gapers. With both rosters pack full of names you’d recognise from the 6v6 world, and a whopping €1,035 for the winners (a measley €630 for the runners up), tonights game is shaping up to be one not to miss!

beach — Are you a budding 9v9 (also known as Highlander) player with nowhere to play and no-one to play with? Well fear not, I have the answer(s)!

There are a few methods you can use in order to involved in some 9v9 games. The first is TF2 Lobby, a system which has been around for a while and is popular among many players, new and experienced alike. It hosts both 6v6 and 9v9 lobbies, and is particularly popular among the 9v9 community. Just log into the website through Steam, follow the instructions to get yourself set up, and join a lobby! You can pick your class on the lobby page, and you will be automatically connected to the game server once 18 people join. It’s a great little system for getting started with competitive TF2 in general, and the 9v9 scene is very active most days, hosting lobbies on a variety of maps (not just pl_badwater, I promise).

Highlander playoffs – Colony v [<3] casted by HiGPS and Hildreth

Hildreth — Highlander has been kind of under the radar lately as Season 3 has quietly rolled by, partly thanks to me not caring enough about coverage to promote the 9v9 gamemode. The only thing that matters these days is streaming and having people willing to cast some games, so I urge those who love their Highlander to stand up and be counted….and to message someone from VanillaTV on IRC so we can get some playoff coverage. On the topic of what is happening on these overly complex, long drawn playoff matches to decide the generously donated prize money from Mr X.

Colony v [<3] Less than three

First off tonight, I would like to promote tonight’s Highlander cast between Colony and International [<3]. This game is the semi-finals of the “secondary playoffs”; the winner of these playoffs – containing 7 teams from bottom half of the Premiership and top 4 from Division one – will win some cash prizes along with the chance to compete in the top division next season.

This match will be casted tonight at 20 CET live by HeavyisGPS and myself, the cast whisperer Hildreth on his twitch.tv channel, the stream is embedded for you below. Also coming up after the Colony v [<3] will be the UGC European Platinum all-star match featuring the community voted ‘all-stars’ from this season of UGC European Platinum. ETF2L’s Premiership outfit Max-Play highlander team took the crown this season, tune in at 21 CET to see this match on the same twitch channel.
