atmo — The double-elimination style knockout rounds of i46 have been running here in Telford all day, and now as we near the completion of this section of the tournament there is a pattern emerging: 2-0 victories by the American teams.
TCM Gaming’s exclusive area. No Tordencam patent infringement intended.
The first North America vs Europe battle came in the form of Leviathan Gaming vs TCM Gaming, in the second round of elimination games. A strong start to the game by TCM saw them pull out an initial lead of two rounds on cp_badlands, with kaidus beating b4nny to middle quite comfortably, but a sudden pause by the admins reset the momentum of the game and LG eventually came out victorious with a 5-3 score. This renewed confidence inspired LG to a further 5-2 victory on cp_gullywash, knocking TCM down into the lower bracket. First blood to the Americans, followed up by a comprehensive 2-0 victory by Classic Mixup over Quarantine.
Greg — It may actually be happening; the ever prophisied news that I can never pin my hopes on… North American teams might actually be coming to a European Insomnia Series event. I am always going to be skeptical regarding this sort of news, because of the dynamics of eSports. How many times before this June have we heard leaked news and “all but confirmed” information that a U.S. Team Fortress 2 team will be crossing the Atlantic to compete in England? I don’t think anyone has forgotten the escapades of Catman and Qun with their prodigious events – CatmanLAN and AmsterLAN.
This time however it looks as if Multiplay will help answer the EU vs. NA debate that has always fluttered above the heads of the TF2 6v6 community. At this point, I want to tip my hat to the community members behind this initiative – The eXtv boys ( Extine, Salamancer and Shadowpuppet in particular) and the support from Multiplay (mainly Tapley). I am not here to speculate of the likehood of seeing our American friends in Telford, I shall leave that to the community. I am here to discuss trials and tribulations the North Americans will have to overcome in the differences between the ESEA Playoff LAN, and the biggest Team Fortress 2 LAN in history.
Leftism — Tonight will see the ETF2L Premiership playoffs take a further step towards its conclusion as Team Infused take on TCM-Gaming in the semi-finals. This will be Infused’s first appearance in the playoffs as their second place during the regular season awarded them a bye in the first round. TCM, meanwhile, have had to overcome PunchLine with a 2-1 victory in the previous round to get this far.
The game will provide some interesting food for thought: Who will come out as the superior Demoman: kaidus or numlocked? Can Infused’s Scouts Cookye and JoeyC contain TCM’s Finnish scouting duo Hymzi and Rebeli? Will Fisshu stop relying on cap points to get up the scoreboard and start getting them frags? Only time will tell…
VanillaTV will be covering tonight’s game with Greg and Admirable with boomeh on the stream. The maps being played will be Badlands and Gullywash with a Snakewater decider. Join us tonight at 21:15CEST unless you’re planning on playing with fireworks, being patriotic and all that jazz…
We’re not 100% if this game is going ahead — read the comments below for reasons why — but even if it doesn’t there is still some TF2 action you can follow tonight. On Relay 2 (relay.vanillatv.org:27101) we have Russia pcws. We also have a STV relay pointing at tonight’s highlander official between Egypt and Latvia – details below.
Leftism — In the first of our series seemingly dubbed “Epsilon week” we bring you this tepid bunch of adventurous schedulers’ first game is against Team Infused - a team Epsilon know very well – in the ZOWIE Tf2 Challenge final. Epsilon have had to overcome Justice League and Crack Clan – only dropping a map to the latter in a 2-1 game in the semi-final - to get into this final whilst Infused, receiving a bye in the first round, only boast a 2-0 win over TCM Gaming coming into this final.
Leftism — Contary to what some mad man named Ahmad may have said on this very site. VanillaTV will be indeed casting tonight’s game featuring nonamefound (ala TCM) and Team Infused.
With some tasty class match ups on offer, VanillaTV will be covering the action with Pledge and Admirable and Warden on the stream. The maps tonight will be Granary and Snakewater – coverage to start at 21:15CEST.
Faint —After last night’s decisive victory over Crack Clan, Team Infused look to secure a place in the Grand Final of Angel’s Cup, where the winner of tonight’s game will face Epsilon eSports. With €750 on the line for the winner of the grand final though, Crack Clan aren’t likely to give this one up without a fight.
The odds seemed to be stacked against them following a crushing defeat last night against the very same team, but as Crack Clan seem to perform better when they are the underdogs, this could be a good one…
On VanillaTV’s Open Mic tonight, Greg will be joined by the one and only Poop, with Comedian on the stream – fresh from a relaxing casting session at i45 ;)
All of the interesting stuff starts at 21:15 CET. Don’t be late!
