Ritalin — As far as National teams are concerned, there is no bigger fixture in the TF2 calendar. That’s right, the ETF2L 6v6 Nations Cup Grand Final between England and Sweden is going down live tonight on VanillaTV! Serving as a taster for big things to come in Season 13, the summer tournament has thus far been a rousing success and both teams will no doubt be giving it their all in an effort to take home the $1234 cash prize generously offered by Angel.
The two teams haven’t met since the last ETF2L Nations Cup all the way back at the tail end of 2009, where Sweden emerged victorious in the semi-final with close 4-3 and 3-2 wins on cp_badlands and cp_granary respectively. Times have changed since then however, and as such, so have both rosters. With that in mind, let’s have a look at what to expect tonight!
We’ll be dual casting tonights game – read on for more information!
Trell — Tonight sees the 6v6 Nations Cup semi final between Sweden and USA to decide who gets a grand final appointment with England to fight for their nations honour and the $1234 prize. Delayed by a week due to not having enough players, today is the cutoff point for it to be played, so lets hope both teams can field their best players and give us a show to remember!
Sweden have looked strong all tournament, topping group A with some impressive wins, but once out of the group stages, their opponents gave much closer games. They came up against a strong looking Russian team in the first round of the playoffs – and very nearly came unstuck. Granary was a close affair with Sweden only just edging the win at 3-2, then Gullywash was pushed to a golden cap, which Russia won, ensuring that a third map would ensue. Snakewater was the final map and again went to a golden cap, which Sweden narrowly managed to win. Progression into the Quarter Finals and a match vs Finland was next, and it was very nearly a repeat of their previous match. They won Badlands 5-4, then lost out on Granary to a golden cap situation. Third map decider was Snakewater, and they ended it 6-3, setting up this semi final with USA.
USA managed to top their group as well, despite a default loss in their first game of the season – they brushed aside Norway and Lithuania, booking their playoff place. Spain was their first opponent, and they took the game over 2 maps, winning Gullywash 7-2 and Badlands 5-4. Their Quarter Final game was against a very tough France team which saw USA take Snakewater 3-1, then crumble on Gullywash, losing 2-4. The third map (Badlands) went to a golden cap, with USA winning 5-4 and grabbing their Semi Final spot.

Trell — Tonight sees the first semi final of ETF2L’s 6v6 Nations Cup, as the rescheduled match between England and Denmark kicks off at 21:15 CEST. Originally slated to be played on Sunday, due to a combination of numlocked and Hat unavailable to play, it was pushed back to today. The second Semi between USA and Sweden will be played this coming Sunday, eventually giving us our two finalists.
England, led by numlocked, managed to top Group F after convincing 6-0 wins over both Spain and Hungary, and a default win against Canada. After advancing to the playoffs, they had an easy ride in the first round with a default win against Norway. The quarter finals were up next with a match vs arch rivals Germany. Played as a best of 3 format, England won the first two maps, but only just – the scores on both were 4-3 in favour of the Englishmen.
Trell — Now that the excitement and tears from i46 has died down, and with Season 13 fast approaching, we’re back to our normal schedules. Coming up tonight for your viewing enjoyment is a Nations Cup Semi Final.
First up, at 20 CEST we see USA take on Sweden. The USA team is filled with players that were recently in Telford for lan, and managed to hit the final stage, and they come up against a Swedish side that will surely want to right some of the lan wrongs and book a place in the final to fly the flag for their country. VanillaTV may be casting this game, but it will depend on grabbing a second caster. We’re casting this with an American POV as Sal (hopefully refreshed from his England visit) joins us along with Byte, with Comedian streaming.
atmo — This week’s ABC cast sees the return of prodigal son-turned-cameraman Comedian, reuniting our familiar weekly trio.
With the first semifinal already completed, tonight’s match up between Finland and France decides who takes the remaining spot in the inaugural Highlander Nations Cup’s final against Germany. Will losing to Germany in the group stages work as motivation or intimidation for Finland? France have progressed this far without any losses to their name, which Finland will be hoping to change with a victory tonight.
Skully — What’s better than watching nations battle it out in the Olympics? watching them duke it out in the ETF2L Nations Cup!
Yes, hello ladies and gentlemen from wherever in the world you are! Tonight we give you a bumper edition of TF2 Nations Cup. Tonight we give you not one, but TWO Nations Cup matches in the group stages. With Croatia, Norway and USA all in action tonight. These two games will help decide the two teams who will be going through to the next stages of the competition.
Byte — So last week on ABC, Comedian was absent, and this week he’s been ninja’ed by the big C, aka CUBE. Tonight VanillaTV will be casting the Nations Cup 6v6 game Spain vs England. Both teams have qualified already however both will want to prove a point that they can contend and maybe be the best nation in European TF2, not to mention all the pride hanging around.
