TLRs website will play host to the latest in TF2 stars interview series, starting out with the interviewing of TLRs very own team with plans to branch out (hopefully!) into others in top TF2 play. The series has started with the interviewing of TLRs team captain Marco mvp Wichmann, with team demoman Timo Thy Krüger to follow suite very shortly.

Can you give us a brief overview of your TF2 backstory? i.e. why you started playing/when/what’s your clan history?

I played TFC, and with FF being a total fail I gave TF2 a try. I started playing PCWs with some old TFC mates and began to like it.

So it didn’t take me long to find a team which had some successful results: Team Fracture. Consisting of players like appe, agron, treigzek and Chode.

Afterwards I joined the former TLR team with wai, wlv and some others. Sadly, that team didn’t last very long and I moved onto duncs (currently Team Dignitas) Übersexuals. I decided to go inactive some weeks later though. Then making a comeback in the summer of 2009 with my all-new german team r@ts.

We’ve had a good start and moved from div2 directly to div1 with some very good results. It was because of these good results that we became part of The Last Resort. My 2nd appearance in TLR.

As TF2 players are slowly losing their tan, the upsurge of tournaments online and offline have made their appearance. Tonight is the first set of games for ESH that will send the winners to the semi finals/finals on Sunday. So what can we expect tonight? Some upsets? Let’s take a closer look at the top seeders on their way to the quarter finals with my predictions along the way.

Round2 vs -PoD-  : A game where the new russian team will have a chance to show what their made of. With kondor and Ice aka unic, this scout combo has caused havoc before in Empire. But can kondor still aim?

Round2 vs Rush :This is the game to watch, i expect an intense matchup but Rush might just manage to knock out the top seeders of this bracket which ends their journey. Source TV pls

TCM vs Rush : One of the less equal matching quaterfinals, and probably too early for Rush to shine…

Round2 vs Squall : Allthough Loco’s team always deserves credit, I think this will be pretty straight forward for broder.

Round2 vs Eternity: The second new russian team to make an appearance, allthough not as strong as PoD. Too early to judge this team.

Quarterfinals
Epsilon vs broder : With 2 of the top snipers, jh and wltrs, this match will be a very intense one indeed. A question of the team who is better prepared or prepared at all?  Source TV pls.

Round2 vs PnL : Allthough PnL have a interesting lineup, PwR will be looking to confirm their domination, and thats on anyone along their path.

Round2 vs cc//: An interesting game but an advantage for the k1ck team which should be able to qualify on.

Quarterfinals
pwr vs k1ck: I don’t see this being any different for PwR dominance, add to that after k1ck’s disapointing performance vs TLR,  this matchup just seems to lean one way. Source TV pls

Round2 vs MTF.px : Allthough this px² team did surprise Epsilon, I don’t see it happening a second time as Dignitas seem to have almost found their legendary form.

Quarterfinals

TLR vs dignitas : A hell of a match to look forward too. After TLR dominated Dignitas in ETF2L AFS, you can be sure that dunc will be looking to prove the contrary tonight. But did Dignitas prepare Viaduct? As you can count on TLR to be prepared, as star tactician marco loves to have his team tactically prepared for new maps. Outcome? Depends if Diggy did prepare….so i see TLR still standing when the dust settles… Source TV pls

After 2 early folds, div1 seems to have gained a level of stability with 6 faithful teams of similar skills. With just over half the games played, no team have a perfect track record. TLR are riding high on their 2 map wins over Dignitas this Monday, while idk? have only 1 previous game so far, a point sharing with Broder.

It’s off season, and the typical time to make roster changes. We’ve already seen both TCM and Dignitas changing out their medics. Here’s a fast overview of the latest movements:

Stoic

Observant people will have spotted Daf participating in their latest pcws. This stallion has been active since the days of TFC. He’s breakthrough on the TF2 scene  came from switching scout to (a world class) soldier in Wotr/4kings a year ago. He is now fully back to the scene and should prove an important part of a stronger Stoic.

Daf: The main lineup is: Medic – Royze, Soldier – me, Soldier – Crink, Demo – Vali, Scout – Super, Scout -Rake. At the moment, the team play 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday with Sunday off) I’ll be playing at least 3 of those days, mostly 4. Jones will fill in when I can’t play

VanillaTF2: What happened to Jones? Busy chasing skirt? (he got a good score in the handsome pagant)
Daf: I’m sure chasing skirt is an integral part of it, but as I understand, he started a new job recently and is also going away traveling for a month to the States! Why would he go semi active in TF2 for that? Don’t ask me…

WeMadeFux

Another Irishman in the wind, Admirable. The former soldier of Wotr2/Coolclan (and Pentia) has now switched to medic completely, and will do his part as a working class hero in WeMadeFux. Admirable can often be found healing pickups, thriving in 2vs6 situations: “jump on them, let’s fuck them up, bro”. Admirable has formal medic training from FakkelBrigade.

VanillaTF2: A comment on Admirable joining your ranks?
Predz: uhm.I stole his Tshirt. I felt i owed him something. So I let him join

VanillaTF2: Is he main lineup medic, TopGear backup multiclass?
Predz: Yessir

VanillaTF2: Want to say something positive about his contribution to the team?
Predz: hmm. I’m probably the wrong person to ask for that. I feel I must always insult him, being Northern Irish and all.

The team will be going to i40 this summer.

The Last Resort

TLR has been in a poor state off season. When Viqun joined some weeks back, Mvp let us know of them restructuring due to scouts leaving the game. The second piece of this puzzle seems to have arrived, in the form of  Havok. This funny character was last seen inactive for the now folded Pentia. He is perhaps most remembered for his brief appearance in Imperial about a year ago. With world class meatshots and magic bullets, can he be what the team needs? Mvp/Marco explains:

Marco: We finally have our lineup for the next weeks/months, with havok and viqun as new scout couple. AAL still is around and will play until his departure around august. although there might be another change coming up in the next weeks.

Marco: You will see, sorry, can’t say any more yet

The team will be  attending Summer Assembly.

Broder

Wltrs originally joined as a long time sub, has now officially joined the team.
Berserker is still on a leave of absence due to exams, but will return mid June  for full time trolling duty. Upon asking Wltrs for a comment, he says “naw :<”. The team will be seen attending Asssembly come August.

Infernal Gamers

There’s a saying of “fool me once…”, “fool me twice…” But nothing really covers “fool me 3 times”. Chatter soared through the intrawebs when it was known that Techtron joined the team for the 3rd time within a matter of months. The team recently lost 3 players, but has already gotten some replacements. We asked Zip what was going on:

VanillaTF2: Could you explain the situation? What happend? 3 people left?
Zip: Yes, 3 people left – angel, wlz and waiz. We were still together only because of Moscow Lan. In-game disagreements between players

VanillaTF2: Are you set for a stable 6 man main linueup now?
Zip: yes, we’ve got 3 new players : techtron, un1c and kondor. and we are going to participate in ubercharge tournament and AFS

VanillaTF2: This is the 3rd time Techtron joins. I know many will be wondering, why do you keep on taking him in after he left you so many times?
Zip: Because he’s a really good medic :)

VanillaTF2: Think he will stay this time?
Zip: I hope so.

• A new team, featuring  JimmyBreeze. Is it going to be active 6v6? Bam!
• Joske joins WeMadeFux (“team Stealthy” is better)
• Numlocked played an official with TCM last night. Viqun also played his first (?) official with TLR. Scoreboards here, and here (we might be mistaken, but it looks like they need more “n“s)
• Techtron keeps trucking
•  D2M, head admin of ETF2L is looking for a team
•  Havok is back to TF2, and is searching too. He was last seen in Pentia before disappearing from the scene. We’re guessing he’s still living somewhere near the end of the world.

It’s been a while since last time. But, with EMS and ESH currently active, there should be more action coming up these days.
